I visited the brewery on a Sunday evening. There were approximately 10 people spread throughout the whole place. (Not remotely busy). The bartender corrected me when I moved my chair to be able to see the only TV playing sports (I did so because a family was clearly watching Star Wars, on the main TV). He said, “I can’t have you sit there because that’s where lines form, so I’m gonna need you to move your chair back over here.” (I looked around at all the empty tables with next to no people). When I politely asked if he thought any lines would be forming anytime soon, he replied, as though I were 8 years old, “I’m going to need you to move your chair over here.” A couple of the people laughed, not even having to hear what was going on to understand the inane nature of what he was asking me to do, as I walked out, realizing that the bartender was not up for using any common sense on the evening. Terrible reception when I walked in, terrible customer service, and a singularly staffed brewery that needs to train their employees better. Will not be returning here. Your employee is more interested in enforcing some nonsensical rule than treating customers with decency. Even if it was a hard and fast rule, say for fire code purposes, (the line forming area is wide open, the entire length of the side bar… do you not ever make use of one whole stretch of bar that runs the depth of your taproom?) he could have said so and in any event could have shown a modicum of respect for the...
Read moreI really wanted to give Nostalgia 4 stars but this was not a great experience. The food menu is simple, but really has plenty to offer everyone. The only problem was on our visit, they were all out of macaroni. They have a section for macaroni skillet dishes which sounded great. I was unable to try any of them unfortunately. The next was the soup....I wanted their version of tomato soup...a roasted red pepper version that sounded really good also, but the waitress returned to say...no tomato soup and now I was without a menu to make my change.
Ok....there's the bad, but the prices were reasonable and the beer was good and our service was pretty decent. It's not the waitress's fault that they were out of everything I wanted. I ordered a smoked gouda grilled cheese that was good....not amazing but just good. My side salad was made with decent lettuce...romaine and spinach and the dressing was decent.
All in all I will give this place a second chance...only because I want to try the BBQ jackfruit macaroni skillet and roasted red pepper tomato soup....and MAYBE...
Read moreSorry I just fixed it! I didn't mean to put 2 stars... I was in the middle of something else and tried to back out of reviewing, hence no extended review. 3 stars due to my hopes and expectations not met. My husband and I are anxious to see if any changes/evolution will come of Nostalgia in the neighborhood. I thought when I read the business journal article I read that Nostalgia would retain Pigskins chef and there was going to be better food (I have to go back and check). Anyway, the hubby loves a good IPA and I have been sticking to lighter domestics lately, so aren't keen on all the interesting/exotic beer flavors. So he was excited to hear that you may be bringing in more guest beers. Also, the menu seemed quite limited and not somewhere we could bring our whole family for a dinner. Decided to have a glass of red wine, but it was really cold coming from the tap - red wine isn't typically served refrigerated so was a different experience. We will probably try again in a couple of months when Nostalgia's open longer and can...
