UPDATE: After writing this review a manager promptly reached out to me, I believe his name was Bob (if not I am so sorry). He was SO wonderful and kind and really took time to listen and understand my concerns. It was refreshing to know that someone cares about the guest experience. He changed my mind about this location, and I will be giving it another go.
I went to applebees for lunch today with a few coworkers and have to share my experience. Our waitress Laura was terrible. She didn't great us with a Hello how are you, instead it was "what do you want to drink" .. this was how the tone continued through the visit. But I won't pick each interaction apart. The icing on the cake was when I left her a $3 tip on a 17-dollar bill which obviously upset her. To the point that she stopped looked at the tip, looked at me and attempted to stare me down... It was the craziest thing I have ever experienced. I was a server for 9 years. I get it. But to make a customer that uncomfortable and to be that obvious in your aggression... It blew my mind. She then walked over to the POS and continued giving me dirty looks from there. If I could give her less, than one star I would... Take away from this review is if you have lousy Laura as your server, you better tip her over 20% or she will stop and stare you down and make things...
Read moreFrom when we were seated I felt as though my boyfriend and I were profiled. I told the lady I signed up online and received a coupon for the free appetizer. I proceeded with the showing her the email and trying to give the code. Laura the waitress stated she needed to see the whole email as if she didn’t believe me. After we received the free appetizer the waitress and the manager comes over with the bill. At this point I’m trying to figure out why all this attention? The manager and the waitress Laura go over the bill to show it was removed however we never asked for the bill or questioned anything. We proceed to get our food and any time we request the waitress walks right by us. Yet all the other customers of the same race is getting special treatment. By the time my food comes in ready to leave so we try to ask for to go containers and even that took awhile. Had to get the manager to give us to go containers. As we are waiting for the containers I use the kiosk to pay and tip. Now when I’m done paying five minutes after Laura comes with the containers and proceeded to wait at our table and watch us pack the food with her hand out trying to remove the dishes. Nonetheless I don’t feel like is the employees faults because they are getting their hours cut and forced to basically be slaves by the executives. One of the Applebees execs Wayne Pankratz released an email to other employees saying that they are planning to take advantage of the workers and their desperation for more hours due to the increase in gas prices, no stimulus pay, ect. So, Applebees is choosing to employ someone/have someone on their team who is going to make those who already make low hourly wages MORE desperate and try to “squeeze” more work out of them for a lower pay/less hours. Horrible person and this establishment obviously has horrible business practices. I would avoid this place at all costs.
