I stopped into Scratch Baking a few weeks ago, to pick up a take-away menu. At the time they did not have any (I was told someone had just taken the last one), but we happened to be in the area a week or so later, and stopped in again, and this time around they had a full supply. The menu looked nice, the baked goods were beautiful, and I loved that you could see the kitchen in action, behind the counter. The cafe was really sweet with 6 small tables inside, and 3 or 4 bar stools up against the windows, as well as outdoor seating. Today, we took our boat into Milford, and arrived at Scratch Baking at 10:45 am. We love supporting small, local business, and I was happy to see the place was bustling! We were greeted by a friendly girl, who promptly told us that they were out of eggs, cheese and bagels. Since at least the eggs seem to be a staple of this business, (and are even part of their logo), we were a little surprised. The menu is small, and an egg and cheese sandwich is the only "hearty" breakfast sandwich (for my husband), so that option was eliminated. He settled for a GIGANTIC orange/cranberry scone, and asked for an orange juice. They do not carry any sort of juice. He then asked for a medium black coffee, but they only offer small and large. I decided on the yogurt/granola parfait, along with a small tea. Our bill came to about $14.00. There is a self-serve station with a large glass jug of water (as it was super hot today, having ice in the water would have been nice), as well as utensils, milk, Half & Half, etc. We were able to find a seat inside, and I have to say, the food was delicious. The scone was really good - not too sweet, and easily could have fed 3 people. The yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit was light and healthy. I actually had quite a bit of the granola left over, and took it home to enjoy on its own. Having never been to the previous location on River Street, I cannot comment on how the business was run, and hope that at its new location, they still are trying to get the kinks out, and are hopefully busier than they ever anticipated! :) As the menu is somewhat limited, when you run out of not one, but three items, to me, that can signal a potential problem. We actually saw one couple leave, when told there were no eggs, cheese or bagels. We think juice also goes hand in hand with breakfast, and offering some bottled juices would go a long way in providing a better dining experience. We will absolutely go back, and hope by then things will be running smoothly, and they will have a better handle on their inventory, and perhaps will even consider expanding the menu a bit to provide more options for...

Read moreYum, yum, wow. Came in for lunch and warm drinks on a sunny fall Saturday. There was a line because this place is so good! We had a delicious meal in the sunshine at a table out front.
Being gluten free I couldnât sample the delicious baked goods that are their bread and butter but I was able to order a fantastic, well priced and massive salad. I had the Chipotle Sweet Potato Salad and I added Chicken to it. All the elements had incredible flavour and the Parmesan dressing was delicious. We went back in for more dressing! I also had an excellent cappuccino. My friend had the Waldorf salad which was also massive and an absolutely delicious smelling Masala Chai steeped tea.
I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the ingredients. They live up to their name as itâs evident that they make their food from scratch. Also, the price point impressed me. The two of us had our gigantic salads, warm drinks and a big doggie treat for a little dog for about...
