(** Edit: Decided to give this place another try for takeout. The food was very good but it was near impossible to get. They seem to really push the online ordering and do not seem to enjoy phone orders. They answered when I called but before they even said hello I was told to hold. I could hear the phone being placed on a counter and instead of hearing other orders being taken or picked up, all I could hear was banter between the staff. After several minutes of hearing nothing but high school chatter I decided to call back. The phone went unanswered 5 times. When someone did finally answer the woman who took my order was pleasant and seemed surprised when I said how I felt as if I was being ignored. No apology was offered though. This instance just reaffirmed how I felt during my previous visit last year. It's a shame because the food is always good.)
Have been a customer for several years. Food is consistently good and my orders have always been correct. I am disappointed they no longer offer the option to dine in house with waitress service. They stopped dine in during Covid and recently advertised they were resuming it. I was surprised to learn when I went with my family for lunch how it is now "cafe style" (as we were reminded several times by the staff.) Apparently "cafe style" means they have tables for you to sit and eat at, but you have to grab your own drinks and napkins. Utensils are not an option.
I don't mind having to grab my own drinks and place my order at the counter but it would nice to have the option of getting a fountain soda. My family and I ordered a pizza to have for lunch and I felt like we were bothering the staff. We were asked several times "Oh you want it for here?!" and were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. We could hear discussion regarding locating a stand for the pizza. When we asked for a serving tool for the pizza and silverware we were told there wasn't any. The one counter worker was able to find a serving tool for us which we appreciated, but we were again reminded their dining room was "cafe style." We all felt the subtext with that statement was: please next time just do takeout and leave.
I guess I don't see the logic of having tables if the staff is going to make you feel like you're in the way when you want to utilize them. Whenever I dined in for lunch or dinner in the past the place was always packed and it was nice experience. You would inevitably run into friends and neighbors while having a nice meal. Eating here this past time myself and everyone with me did not feel comfortable, which has greatly impacted my desire to return in the future for take out. This place appears to be successful and I would strongly encourage the owners to reconsider their stance on eliminating waitress service. I'm sure my family is not the only people who have left disappointed and miss being...
Read moreAre you a fan of Ken's Brand salad dressing? Well look no further than John's of Arthur Ave in Milford, Pa for this brand of dressing for your Caeser Salad. I placed an order for delivery for a Caeser Salad . I understood waiting for Delivery-had no issue with- even when informed it could take up to an hour and a half for it to be delivered. I have ordered Caeser salads as a take out order from various restaurants and have NEVER been disappointed in what I've received like I was tonight. I didn't think it was an unheard of or unrealistic expectation to expect that my salad already have the dressing on the lettuce and mixed when receiving it. Well, apparently John's feel it was too high of an expectation. What I received was a naked caeser salad with dressing packets on the side. And when I called to express my disappointment, what I was told and I quote: "I'm sorry you didn't get what you expected" Maybe I'm expecting too much, maybe their policy and procedure for salads to go is to give out packets of dressing. I will not order from them again, I will not dine in their restaurant again nor will my family. They may not care that they will no longer have my business, but I'm disappointed in what I received and what I was told when I called to address the issue with them. We had loved dining with them, but I will not give my money over to a business that doesn't explain themselves. I will no longer recommend this business to my guests when they check in to my hotel. I will not recommend this business to...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Johnâs of Arthur Ave. in Milford, PA, my family and I enjoyed a truly memorable meal rooted in authentic Bronx-style Italian cooking. The welcoming atmosphere made it an ideal place for a relaxed family outing, and the food lived up to its reputation.
We started with the Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce, which was a hitâsimple, fresh, and classic. The pasta was perfectly cooked and generously coated in a house-made tomato sauce, sprinkled with just the right amount of cheese and herbs.
One of the highlights was the Eggplant Parm Hero. It came out hot and hearty, with thick-cut eggplant fried to perfection, layered with rich marinara and creamy mozzarella on a fresh Italian roll. A must-try, especially if you love traditional Italian sandwiches.
To finish, we shared a Cannoli for dessert. It was everything a good cannoli should beâcrispy shell, sweet ricotta filling, chocolate chips, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Light yet satisfying.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the portions were generous enough to please everyone at the table. From the warm hospitality to the quality of the dishes, Johnâs of Arthur Ave gave my family a dining experience we wonât soon forget.
If you're looking for authentic Italian food in a family-friendly setting, Johnâs of Arthur Ave is a gem. Great for locals, travelers, and anyone craving real-deal...
