I came to see if I had to crown a new King of California Burritos, but it ended in a tie. If you happen to be following my burrito obsession, this is the latest addition to my list. The burritos have become a bit more expensive with inflation, so there's no more $12 burritos, but I'm not holding that sorry them.
Having just arrived back from Mexico, I can't really say the atmosphere is authentic, as I think it might be an old Wienerschnitzel, but the drinks are authentic.
They've got Mexican Coke, Jarritos, Fanta, Horchata, etc. The tortilla chips are freshly made, and mine were even warm to the touch. The chips were so good, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to finish my burrito, especially after I saw it.
The "super" burritos are really super size. They're definitely a meal, and maybe even a meal for two. I ordered the California burrito and watched as it was rolled. I saw a whole order of fries dumped on top and I was truly amazed at how she managed to still roll a perfect burrito. So why four stars?
It's the sauce, or lack there of. Burritos put myself and Mexicans in a weird position. The food is really native to EE UU, so sometimes they try a bit too hard to be tradition. This is one of those cases.
In Mexico it's pick your own salsa, and here, it's basically the same. With red or green salsa added the burrito isn't bad, but every major burrito chain has basically patented their own sauce for these occasions, so it might feel a bit plain.
If I ordered something else this would probably be a five star review, but this is a burrito competition, and they did tie for the best California Burrito, which is nothing to scoff at.
If you're in the area, it's...
Read moreI ordered a Carne Asada plate, and when they brought my order, it had a weird smell, and as soon as I took a bite of the carne asada, the taste was horrible, the meat was spoiled. I told the waitress and she took the plate to the back and asked me if I wanted something else or my money back and told her I wanted my money back , she told the guy in the back kitchen, I'm not sure if he was the manager or the owner , but he had the nerve to tell me, that the meat was good and nothing was wrong with it, I told him if Nothing was wrong with the meat to take a bite of it, he refused and I told him to smell it , he did took a sniff and he said it was just undercooked 🤦🏻♂️ that was not undercooked, that was rotten meat 🤥 my other friend that ordered the burrito took a smell of my Asada plate and he almost threw up 🤢🤮 my friend's reaction after smelling it was, UTA MADRE 🤢🤢 NO MAMES !!! 🤢🤢🤢😂 I told guy from the restaurant if he was tripping about me wanting my money back , that he can keep the money, we spent 60 dollars for 2 asada plates with spoiled meat and a burrito ( not spoiled meat) and he only gave us 20 dollars back 😂😂😂 I told him to keep those 20 dollars too but he refused 😆 horrible experience with bad service, bad food, I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE EVER , they aren't even Mexican they are Salvadorian lol instead of selling Mexican food with spoiled meat they need to sell Salvadorian food, TOO BAD THERE'S NO OPTION...
Read moreA notch up from Taco Bell. Most Taqueria's are in the spotlight now. It seems, the pandemic changed much. And to me, the Taqueria's that are still 'keeping it real,' are La Corneta, SF Glen Park; and San Bruno Taqueria. It's just like that. I haven't been to El Super Burrito in approximately 8 years. Perhaps you're thinking, why'd you stop? Well, last time I was there I remember it like yesterday. Though it never was a 'go to' Taqueria for me, I found myself there. I ordered some nachos minus meat. The young lady who did my order was strictly business. Ok? Nacho's are done! And I'm patiently waiting to receive my order. I'm watching the whole thing. After she made my nachos she placed them on the counter behind her. I guess she figured, 'Well, I did my job.' And we get it. In the fast-food restaurant business, most workers have a role. Still, I've yet to receive my order.😔 So I continue to wait. Nothing. Until, I directed the attention of one of the workers to what I assumed, was my nachos. They checked the order, gave it to me. Bear in mind, nachos are best right after their made. Inside my car I commenced to eating the nachos I ordered, and I just couldn't enjoy it. The cheese was melted nicely but the beans turned cool and the chips weren't what I expected. I threw it away. El Super Burrito has a nice location for years on ECR Blvd. And I'm sure many in and around that community love Mexican food. I think they...
