Not a good experience tonight. Our server was very inattentive. It was as if we were an inconvenience to her. She barely checked on us, didn't offer any refills, and just didn't show us in any way that she was interested in serving us. One of the people at our table asked for ceasar dressing, and she brought something different, and we certainly couldn't get her attention to come back. We pretty much had to flag her down just for us to get our check. It was as if we had the plague, and she was avoiding our table at all costs. Only coming by when absolutely necessary. Our appetizers were good, but our entrees were not the best. She didn't write our orders down, which is common in certain places, but unfortunately she got our orders wrong. On both of the traditional wing baskets, she incorrectly entered that we wanted our wings extra crispy. We knew our wings were hard, but we just thought it was an error on the part of the kitchen staff. I decided to eat all but 3 of mine, and just dealt with it. However, another member of my party gave feedback about her wings being too hard. The manager came over and replaced the wings, but he said, "Well, y'all asked for them crispy." And we both replied that we didn't. But sure enough when the check came, that's what had been entered, but it was not what we ordered. When we returned home, it was discovered that the replacement wasn't much better. It was not eaten and thrown away. We ordered loaded baked potatoes also, and my goodness there was so much cheese on them, that you couldn't enjoy them. Unfortunately, I think the service was the most disappointing part of our experience, and had it been better, I feel that our meal likely would've been better...or...
Read moreI am writing to formally express my disappointment following a recent dining experience at Pickle Barrel in Milledgeville, GA.
I visited the restaurant for lunch with my sister. After finishing my food, I was sitting and chatting with her as she continued eating. During our conversation, I happened to glance down and noticed a small hair in the ranch dressing I had been using throughout my meal. I immediately notified a waitress, who acknowledged the issue but initially only deducted $2 from my bill.
When I brought my concerns to the manager, the situation escalated in a way that was both unprofessional and upsetting. Rather than sincerely addressing the issue, the manager insisted that the hair could not have come from any staff member because he personally packaged the ranch. He then implied that I may have placed the hair there myself. I was deeply offended by this accusation and the dismissive attitude he showed throughout our interaction.
At no point was I seeking a free meal—I simply expected the matter to be handled with care and professionalism. The manager’s comment, suggesting that “if I wanted the whole meal comped, I could’ve just said that,” was inappropriate and disrespectful. Thankfully, I was eventually issued a refund, but the damage to the experience and my impression of the establishment had already been done.
While the food was good up until that point, the way the situation was handled was unacceptable. The lack of accountability, the implication that I was dishonest, and the overall disrespect made for a truly unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, this will be the last time I dine at Pickle Barrel, and I would not recommend the restaurant to others based...
Read moreFirst, it's been a while since we've been to this particular Pickle Barrel. Arrived on a Friday at 1:00 pm. Place was busy, but not slammed. Tables were not being bussed. Menu didn't show prices or calorie counts . Sat for 30 minutes before waitress came over to take our order. No silverware no napkins and one water. We ordered two Rubin's and a cup of coffee. Waited another 25 minutes. Finally I snagged another waitress to see if our meals were ready. She came back instantly with our plates. I asked "How long had these been sitting back there". She replied the cook had just placed them to be served. I had to go to the back to retrieve napkins and silverware for the two of us. While walking back to get our cutlery I could see a lot of food sitting waiting to be picked up. It literary took over an hour to get our meal. We were going to walk out, in hind sight we should have. The price $26.31 for two Rubin's and one cup of coffee. A little steep for a lunch that was aggravating. Oh, the Coleslaw was the pits. The Rubin's themselves were not bad, but not worth the time or the price. After posting my review, their menu came up on line, Rubin's $7.59 (charged $11.00) Coffee $1.59 (charged $2.59) we were overcharged $7.82. I've been trying to reach the manager all this afternoon and keep getting a busy signal. Mr. Pickle has some...
