I rarely write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience with this restaurant.
While in Milpitas, I was looking to try a new Indian spot and came across this place with great reviews. What caught our attention was a Mangalorean dish—Chicken Sukka—as my wife is Mangalorean and instantly started craving it after seeing it on the menu.
We ordered Chicken Sukka, Tandoori Fish, Gobi 65, Kerala Parotta with Egg Chettinad, and Veg Chettinad. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing.
First, the service was very slow—we had to wait a long time just for the starters. The Gobi 65 was a letdown right from the first bite. It was overly salty and the oil tasted stale, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste.
After the appetizers, we waited another 15 minutes for the main course. The Chicken Sukka was a major disappointment. It didn’t resemble the authentic Mangalorean version at all. If it’s not the traditional preparation, it really shouldn’t be labeled as such.
Both Chettinad curries were extremely salty and lacked the depth of flavor one would expect. The only saving grace was the Tandoori Fish, which was well-cooked and flavorful.
Sadly, this visit didn’t live up to our expectations. With the combination of poor service and subpar food, we won’t be returning. Disappointing overall—especially when we were so excited to try a dish that’s close to...

Gongura mutton: My first time ever trying it. The mutton was tender and fall off the bone deliciousness. The curry had a great spicy and well rounded flavor. Highly recommend!
Kerala parrota: It came highly recommended by the staff and it did not disappoint. It was buttery, flaky and went perfectly with both curries.
Garlic naan: Probably the most flavorful naan I've had in any Indian restaurant in South Bay. It had a nice texture, the right amount of garlic, and just a bit of butter making it a great partner for the curries as well.
Chicken tikka masala: Well balanced dish that wasn't too creamy of spicy. They give you plenty of chicken and focus on highlighting the great tomato flavor in the curry.
Dosa: THE BEST DOSA WE'VE HAD IN SOUTH BAY! The dosa was the perfect texture-crunchy on the outside with a slight chew on the inside. The chutneys that came with dosa were all balanced and well rounded.
Service: Everyone was kind, attentive, and gave great recommendations.
Ambiance: Really loved the murals on the wall and the calm vibe in the restaurant.
I will be coming back again with friends and try more items...

Their Thalis are nothing short of amazing – a perfect symphony of flavors, textures, and colors. Each Thali is a feast that offers a variety of dishes, giving you a taste of authentic Indian cuisine in one beautifully presented platter. The portions are hearty, ensuring you leave completely satisfied.
But what really stole the show for me were their Kerala Parathas. These flaky, buttery flatbreads are nothing less than mouthwatering! Perfectly layered and soft, they pair wonderfully with the curries and gravies served with the Thalis. Honestly, I could eat them on their own! They are that great!
The service is warm and friendly, and the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. If you’re a fan of flavorful, authentic food that leaves you craving your next visit, Awesome Vance Bharat is a must-try....
