Went there yesterday service no comment but first is no condiments on the table like salt pepper vinegar ,second your plate are to big and the shape does not apply on your servings meaning dinner plates are too big not enough space on the table you should have exact size of your bowl or serving plates for any types of order that way it’s not too crowded on the table even if the customer has a lot of order. There is a lot of different plates for exact amount of order . Third your music kalesa is the name Tagalog your ambience and music should be Tagalog not English , we have a lot of OPM music and good artist in our country pls. this is a filipino restaurant let’s advertise it and be proud of it . Last but not the least is your RICE I’m not expecting a very good quality rice but not as dark as yesterday “May Amoy Pa” I know my self that we have a cheap rice here but it’s not brown as we have yesterday “NAKAKAHIYA” we want steam WHITE rice not like in the Philippines na NFA RICE rice lang yan. And put some native decorations I’m proud to recommend this restaurant but please try to make better your food is very good . And I would recommend this restaurant to other people . Make us proud this is the only decent restaurant that we have here as far as I know . My family and I we love your food . And you place are big but I notice it’s not organized Be hide the kitchen messy . And the bathroom I notice all the Filipino restaurants here in San Jose Restroom is also and junk room . I remember the first time I went there “maayos pa sya “but now hmm…… I know everything is expensive here but if you have nice place good ambiance clean area and specially good food more customers will be happy and more recommendations will come . This is just an advise but I hope you will consider...

This restaurant was recommended by family as one of the best Filipino establishments in the Bay area. The restaurant itself is quite large, and the decor is quite nice, giving a touch of class to the dining experience, something that I have not experienced at other Filipino restaurants that I've been to.

The menu is quite extensive, and there are a lot of staples and also some dishes that were unique to Kalesa. We ordered the Ukoy, Kare Kare, Sizzling Pork Sisig, Sizzling Bangus Sisig and the Pinakbet.

The Ukoy, which is a vegetable and shrimp fried patty, was excellent. Crispy and flavourful and was not greasy as found in other establishments. The Kare Kare, a peanut based oxtail and vegetable stew, also had amazing flavour. The stew was thick and there was a great balance of flavour, nothing too overpowering, and the oxtail was tender. Both sizzling Sisig dishes were crispy, had a touch of spice and tasted amazing paired with garlic rice. Lastly the Pinakbet, a mix of vegetables like eggplant, and Okra, was a perfect compliment to lighten up the overall meal.

The service was fast and friendly, and the parking is plentiful. The only negative was that the washrooms were a little disorderly and not clean. Overall a nice experience and highly recommended, especially if you have not experienced...

If you are not phillipino and go there around 7pm they will serve you not politely. I just went there yesterday, from the entrance when i talked to the old lady server that we are 3, she never mentioned any words just pointed one table to sit. When she gave us menu she didn’t say any words, didn’t see us just put the menu and left. Young guy server was kind. But I really don’t understand why she was kind of rude to us because we didn’t do anything wrong. She was talking to other tables and asked about their meals so I just think because we are not phillipino or because we went there 7pm made her upset? I don’t know. Personally I have nostalgia to the Philippines. Around 10years ago I studied there for a couple of months and enjoyed staying there. I was excited to find chicken inasal from this restaurant because I aways missed this since I came back from the Phillipines.. I really didn’t like to give them tips because she was really rude but we just did it. I will never go to this restaurant or eat phillipino foods because my memory is...

I was invited by my uncle and his wife to this restaurant for my grandmother's 83rd birthday. This restaurant is quite fancy for a place that serves ordinary Filipino food. I love how most items from the menu are displayed to see how they look like though they won't exactly replicate them being served to us, which is why I decided to take pictures of them. The food is good though, but some food needs to be a bit warmed up like the pancit. Some tastes alright but they don't really stand out. Most of them taste like home since I grew up in a Filipino household. The portions of the entrees are appropriate for hosting a party. Desserts are amazing though! I recommend going to this restaurant for friends and family if you're willing to try Filipino food in the Bay Area.
