So happy we came across this place! My toddler has allergies and we can never trust restaurants because most places are not knowledgeable of allergies. This bakery was awesome! My son could eat anything on they make so he did not have to miss out on anything! He was so happy and it was such a special feeling knowing our entire family could share the yummy treats. I’m not sure if she was the owner but a very nice woman helped us and talked to us about allergies, and a perspective like hers only comes from people that truly understand what families with allergies go through. Overall a great experience- everything we tried was delicious!
Updated to add: We have been consistently visiting Blooming Lotus Bakery several times a month since we discovered the gem. My toddler has mostly outgrown his food intolerances but we still have a baby with food intolerances (including corn- which is impossible to eat anywhere besides homemade by us- AND blooming lotus!!!). The toddler can now eat anything but he has grown up eating non-processed, real food so he loves getting treats here! The owner is the sweetest woman and always gives my son a little dinosaur to bring home. I don’t think I have tried anything that I did not like! We often buy her pizza crusts and pancakes as well as various baked treats- they have donuts on...
Read moreIt's great to have a place like this in Milwaukee. Most of the items I've had have been tasty--most of the scones (the Hippie Scones, for example), most of the muffins (such as the Banana Nut), the lemon bars, the coconut "Mounds" bars. In comparison to other gluten-free baked goods choices in the area, Blooming Lotus does a lot to have items that are low-carb and made from organic ingredients. It also makes some nut-free items, and uses a lot of healthy-choice ingredients such as alternative, natural sweeteners. Most of the goods don't taste like their sugary, gluten-filled counterparts at standard bakeries, but you kind of have to expect that-- their muffins, scones, and other items are their own thing, their own category. The coffee is good, but it's regular coffee, so those of us who have to drink decaf need to look at other options: I usually get my muffin or scone to go and have decaf at the office. The owner and workers are very nice, but don't engage much beyond the purchase. I like the place very much, though, and I wish the...
Read moreThe wonderful couple at the bakery really helped me out today! It is my sister’s birthday and I’m visiting from out of town, so I wanted to get her something special. She recently found out she has celiac disease and her normal diet has been totally uprooted. This is the first birthday she wasn’t able to have her annual birthday cake, so I sought out a gluten free option. I ran up to the store at the last second today and the kind people working there let me in even thought they had closed the register for the evening. While they tried to get the register rebooted, they told me they were just rushing out because their dog was sick 😞 They couldn’t get the register back up quickly so they told me to take the cupcakes for my sister because she should have them for her birthday, and they trusted me to call with payment tomorrow! Even in their time of need they were able to help out someone else. Not to mention, the cupcakes were delicious! I highly recommend this bakery for both their kind service and their fantastic...
