My experience with this particular Denny's is as follows. My friend and I walk into the doors and are asked to take a seat we will be with you as soon as a table opens up. Aggravating older couple sitting next to us and I proceeded to have a conversation with them. Among other station I realize that some of the waitresses know their names so I assume they are regulars at this establishment. Not too long after we were told to wait a table opens up and we are seated and a couple of moments later the couple we were just conversing with are seated next to us. I noticed as they walk by the elderly gentleman had a hard time walking so is what I assumed as his wife helps him along. We get our menus from the manager who seated us and the elderly couple. As I'm looking at the menu I notice that we have no napkins at our table as I stand up I noticed the elderly couple don't have any napkins either. I woke up to the bus station or something of that nature and as I do so there is a gentleman working here with earbuds in his ear he proceeded to take one out so that he could hear me properly. I explained to him that my table needs napkins and so does the one next to me so I proceeded to start grabbing napkins from the station informed by this man that is not a problem. I grab what's left of and napkins in the plastic bag and as I turn around to find a garbage can to put the plastic bag in a waitress is looking at me wondering what I'm doing. I see the expression on her face and she is not happy she walks up to me and asked me am I taking all of those napkins and I explained to her yes because my table doesn't have napkins and the table next to me does not have any either. As I'm trying to explain myself she is telling me no repeatedly being very rude and trying to interrupt me. Long story short this waitress TAKES the napkins from my hand and tells me that it is not ok for me to help myself to napkins, even though I explained to her an employee said I could grab them! She raises her voice to me and repeats No, and turns to walk off in back where I cannot follow her. The manager walks up as my friend and I are getting ready to leave I explained to her the situation we had. She tries to convince us to stay but I explained to her that I will not be treated so rudely by a member of her wait staff. The manager proceeded to tell me that she will have a talk with everyone back. I told her it's not the people in the back fault. It's the one waitress with the attitude towards me and my friend over some napkins. She changes the subject to try and convince me to stay but my friend and I have made up our minds. And we proceeded to leave the building and I tell many of the customers waiting to be seated of how rudely my friend and I...
Read moreMy family of 5 went to this restaurant on a Friday morning. There were 2 families in front of us, already waiting. There was no hostess. Only 1 waitress trying to multitask by being a hostess and a waitress. She told us we'd only have to wait 10 minutes to be seated. We were waiting for almost 1 hour and one of the families in front of us walked out. There were customers who were done with their food, in line, waiting to pay and were kept waiting forever to pay their bills. The entire time we were waiting against the wall, we could smell old urine from the wall. There were 2 booths that were not cleaned up and finally the busboy came out to clean them and he spilled a glass of orange juice all over one table and seats because he had an attitude visible for all to see. The waitress/hostess ran and tried to clean up the mess he made, while he stood in front of the other filthy booth, on his cell phone. I yelled "Get off that phone and clean up that table!" One of the customers waiting to pay asked the waitress/hostess why the service was so slow and she told him the manager gave 2 of the 5 waitresses their day off so they were short staffed. I peeked at the other side of the restaurant and every single table and booth were clean and empty. I asked why they couldn't just sit all of us waiting (there were 4 families behind us) on those tables and booths and some old man who's a "regular" said "there's not wait staff for that area." I told him that if they really cared about paying customers, they'd just start sitting all of us there, at least. The waitress/hostess told us it'd just be 3 more minutes. After waiting for almost 1 hour and having my nostrils burn from the urine stench, we left and went to the Denny's by the airport....
Read moreLet's face it. Dining out these days is an expensive proposition, and breakfast is no exception. But at this Denny's location, I experienced friendly and attentive service after an appointment to a nearby hospital. If you're a local, you know the one to which I'm referring. I bring this up because sometimes ypu want a confortable place to unwind after visiting someone receiving care or maybe you or a loved one had a difficult therapy or provider appointment. The staff at this restaurant were warm and friendly as they greeted me and others at the door. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but I've been to more than a few where the staff was disengaging, scrolling on cell phones, and lacking hospitable acumen. But not this Denny's. It was clean from the lobby to the bathrooms. I created my meal and ordered poached eggs, toast, bacon, and pancakes. I was hungry. A cup of coffee that my waitress never let go below half full as my beverage of choice. The food was cooked to perfection, and although I rarely have an appetite to eat everything, I cleaned my plate. The experience, food and dining area were superior compared to all of my recent breakfast ventures. The trip was delightful and complaint-free, and this Denny's has earned my loyalty and pledge of support after future visits to that nearby hospital. I highly recommend it based on the quality of food, service, and overall experience as the best local diner on South 27th Street on...
