Riley’s Bar + Burger — Restaurant in Milwaukee

First of all be aware that this place does not take cash which would have been nice to know beforehand. Regardless gave this place a shot this past weekend and overall the food was decent and the price points are about average for any other similar type restaurant but their means of service and ordering is way overly complicated than it needs to be for ordering burgers. When we arrived we were handed menus (which were only drink menus) but then told the food menu was on a QR code you had to scan at the table of which you have to go through pick everything then pay through that which is the only means of doing this, it ended up for the three of us taking nearly 20 minutes to figure this out and finally place the order of which at the end had the audacity to ask for a tip and at this point we had not even been met at our table by anyone working there so I'm not even sure who's getting tipped. Now if you want drinks or soda or anything you have to either go up to the bar yourself or in our case the window outside to order separately, I only wanted water which was just in a cooler sitting outside on a table. Like I said the food was decent but did not come out all at the same time where one of the three of us got their burger and had nearly finished it all by the time the last one of us got theirs, and that person had ordered first, burgers were hot but the sides were cold. I ended up somehow with 3 orders of sides due to my difficulty navigating their ordering system. Personally I would not return, perhaps if they went to using regular waiters / waitresses to take orders to make things less complicated, but also I am one to only use cash and generally wont visit places that...

Great concept! Love that the pups are welcomed and have water bowls available to a company each table, however, our experienced lacked the lust that we had hoped to experience at our first visit. The menu options offer you the opportunity to ask for more of anything to be added to your choice, but not an option for light additions. That was especially disappointing with the steak burrito because, the Verde sauce was tasty, but they added far too much and it drowned it out flavors of the rest of the components. The burger was good, very tasty, but not worth $10 in my opinion. A little more volume to the meat patty, or adding in a handful of complimentary fries, at the very least, would have made it worth my while. The side order of onion rings for $5, included about six or seven smaller sized rings total, which were very lightly breaded, overdone, and we're truly a disappointment for the price. Atmosphere is great, volume to the music could have been just a little less to been able to hear my partner in conversation who was sitting directly across from me. Overall, our experience was mediocre. Would I give it them a try again? Maybe. Cute place, great location, pup friendly, and so much...

We went a few weeks ago after their soft opening. This is one of those times I waffled between a 4 and 5, wishing I could do 4.5…. Think once they are up and in full swing this will be a really cool spot to hang out with your dog or meet friends.

We had friends recommend this place, so it was a bit of a drive for us. It is cashless and when you go in you find a seat and place your order via the QR code and food is brought to you. Order your drinks at the bar. It felt a little self service, wish they had a little smoother system, but we did have someone come by to double check we were doing ok and to ask how the food was. Has that feeling of a local place cheers bar/burger joint.

The food we ordered was good. We went for late lunch, so we weren’t starving. I ordered the burrito - could only eat half and took the other half home (reheated great for the next day). It was delicious - flavors mixed well, loved the avocado in it. My husband ordered the smash burger - double patty. He loves mushrooms on his burgers, said it was delicious, but definitely get the two patties. We were only indoors - high top seating - next time we want to check out the outdoor space.
