I tossed & turned & debated many times over with myself on whether or not I should write this. But if I don’t begin to speak up about what’s going on in our city then who will? This has been on my heart to say since November 2022 I’ve always seen this spot on the way home and the kiddo has always asked me if we can stop in & try the place out. I eventually agreed to do so and we came here with the intent to have a wonderful experience. I was wrong. Completely wrong. For starters, when we stopped by, we were told that basically…they don’t usually do walk-ins and were encouraged for future reference to either schedule online via dinner reservations and/or to call in for dinner reservations which is weird, considering the fact that it’s only a pizza spot; not a 5 star dining restaurant. Anyway, because we were first time guests we were SELECTIVELY seated, which I also found to be disturbingly weird considering the fact that this small pizza establishment was entirely empty. I can’t make this up; literally; only just me & the kiddo during our entire experience there. And speaking of selectively being seated, I was told by a host/greeter/waiter (he was all of these in one) that the table that the kiddo & I had decided to sit at was reserved. Mind you, the table never had a reserved sign on it; nor when the host showed me how to reserve a table for future online dining, when he brought his tablet to the table, was there ever even one table on that tablet shown as being reserved. I knew that he was lying the moment that he opened his mouth to tell me that the table of our choice was reserved. So guess where he seated us?! At the far back, by the window! I was outraged internally of this ridiculousness! It totally blew my mind. The entire time that we were there not a soul walked through those doors. And judging by their weird business hours and whence the time we came & went (an hour or two before closing time) again, I knew that the host was lying to me about anyone coming to dine in for pizza. Nothing but lies. And when I tipped him as we were leaving, he even had the nerve to ask me if I was sure about tipping him well; as if I may be potentially & financially worse off tipping him the way that I did, which completely left me disgusted internally with the entire customer dining experience at this place and with the employee himself.
With that being said this place and that experience as an African American gave me prejudice & segregation vibes all around the board. My kiddo & I was starving as we had committed engagements this entire day. To have to come to a pizza spot for crying out loud and to have to experience this is completely unacceptable, disgusting and out of order period!!!! My child and I did not feel valued at this place whatsoever. You can even tell by the owners’ response to customer reviews that they give off complete A-HOLE VIBES. Indefinitely where there’s smoke there is fire indeed at this establishment; especially when it comes to management & staff.
The pizza here is NOT even mid at best. Honestly, I’ve tasted better at a typical run-in-pizza spot on the east side. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Lastly, I want to be clear when I say that 🗣️ DIVERSITY IS NOT WELCOMED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY & RESPECT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO PERSON OF COLOR SHOULD EAT HERE‼️ ITS PATHETIC & DISGUSTING THAT WE STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH DOWNRIGHT IGNORANCE! THE FACT THAT WE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH SUCH FOOLISHNESS LIKE THIS AT ALL IN HISTORY OF MANKIND PERIOD STILL BAFFLES MY MIND!
And to the owner of this place…don’t even bother responding with a sarcastic & slick comment the way that you do with other customers because our dining experience was super poor. This matter shouldn’t be taken lightly nor disrespectfully when it comes to equality.
I only kept it respectful & professional on my end as always for the sake of my kiddo being in my presence. Had my kiddo not been in my presence this establishment would’ve gotten a piece of my mind; always...
Read morePerfect Pizza. Highly recommended by MKE chef and server. Expectations met!
When Miles Borghgraef, Birch and Butcher chef and owner came into my Lyft, and suggested Wy-east as "The Best Pizza in MKE it got my attention. Then the owner's niece of Wy'east came into my Lyft and said the same. Well I knew I had to check it out. (Pizza is my, 'What if you can take only 1 food to an island?' answer)
Well after understanding the rules of ordering (explained by niece...kind of Soup Nazi Seinfeld like), I asked Ms. Wy-east on the phone what she suggested pepperoni or sausage and ordered their sausage pie based upon that and left it simple.
It was perfect from crust to cheese to sausage to sauce to perfect temperature and lack of sloppiness/mess that caused me to completely enjoy my 15 minutes in my parked car down the block. Two-thirds gone, and 2 slices left to enjoy at home of the 14" (only size) piece of perfection
So much did I enjoy it, that I had to go back at 4:30pm (opening time) on Wednesday. (Found out closed on Tuesday!) As I readied to order the pepperoni special call Hot Marmot, I was swayed by the Wednesday and Sunday special The Ring of Fire. It has bacon for goodness sake! Add to that honey, sport peppers, fontina cheese and I experienced back to back winners.
Every ingredient could be easily tasted and once again, AMAZING.
I've grown up on MKE pizza for 18 years and ate Chicago pizza for 30 years, this is the best I've ever had! Going back tonight for The Hot...
Read moreHands down the best pizza in Milwaukee and probably one of the best pizza places I’ve ever been to. I’ve been coming here for 3+ years consistently and I’ve never been disappointed.
All of the toppings are delicious/high quality and they don’t skimp out. The base sauce and cheese on all the pizzas is also amazing as well. You can tell that everything is made in house and made with love.
My personal favorite is the hot marmot. Their white pizzas are also delicious as well. Seasonal pizzas are also offered and they are always worth a shot.
If you are not a fan of the typical bar style or Midwestern thin crust pizza (which I am not), definitely check this place out. Best wood fired pizza I’ve ever had, and the crust is insanely good.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is my favorite restaurant in the Milwaukee area by far. Extremely friendly staff and diverse drink menu.
Please check this place out! I encourage everyone in the Milwaukee area to try it!
If you want to dine in - definitely get a reservation online. Also...
