Crazy Cajun Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Mineral Wells

We visited this restaurant on 5/14/2024. Food was OK but our service was amazing from our server- COLE. Cole was put in the uncomfortable position of asking us to take the meal we had bought for our autistic child at a local fast food restaurant to our car. I explained I would be happy to, but it would be at the cost of us leaving. (our autistic child has food and texture aversions - when he finds something he will eat it is the ONLY thing he will eat) Cole told his manager this and we were allowed to stay. They advised that their menu had comparable items on the their children's menu and I offered to explain to the manager that it didn't. Not all Chicken Nuggets and Tenders are the same and our child likes the food from the other restaurant because it is the same every time and sadly has been for over 40 years. I get the policy of no outside food, however at the table next to us they had allowed a cake to be brought in..... How was that different? They serve a COMPARABLE dessert.... Also to be clear we ordered a drink for our child and both of us. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. It wasn't about the cost of the Kids meal, it actually would have been cheaper for us to order his meal there, it was about how we keep our child regulated and allowing us the opportunity to eat out at a restaurant. While visiting family in mineral wells we decided to try this place after reading some reviews. The menu was confusing, is this a BBQ restaurant or a Cajun restaurant. We came for Cajun flavors and we were disappointed. We got the boudin balls for an appetizer and we felt like it could have used some more spicy flavor. It tasted just like a fried rice ball. I got the jalapeño catfish which the jalapeño flavoring comes in the form of blended jalapeños in a wet sauce you pour over the fish. I opted not to make the fish soggy and the fish was very good. Sweet potatoes fries were good and the white cheddar Mac and cheese was more on par with velveeta box Mac and cheese with garnish. My husband got the cajun fried steak which comes with andouille gravy. Again everything was under seasoned the steak itself was lacking flavor and the andouille gravy was runny and just missing something. He got the sautéed veggies and corn. One of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had. It took 45 minutes to get our food, the waitress took my drink to refill and never came back with it after 30 minutes I had to ask a different waiter to bring it back, I can’t comment on the food because oh yeah! I NEVER GOT MY FOOD, after 45 minutes of waiting turns out the waitress forgot to put my order in, me and my family didn’t want to wait anymore so I just told them to eat without me. According to my family the food had no Cajun flavor and most of it was cold. Our waitress had no idea what she was doing, I do not know if she wasn’t trained, or if it was just a long day.
