What a neat place, it reminds me of the Montana Club restaurant in Missoula MT. So here's the skinny, the food here needs a bit of work and then this place gets 5* across the board. The main sign says Steak and BBQ, but it could just as well say fish & chips. Steak & BBQ is not a specialty, but it is an option. Our food was served under temperature which is a direct reflection of the server who was M.I.A. most of the time. Mia was very friendly just not attentive to make sure drinks stayed full or to check on things like extra napkins or to seef if the food was even cooked properly. We ordered a ribeye and sliced brisket for our meals. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium so kudos to the chef. It was nice and tender, but had very little flavor. My ribeye was a huge letdown, it tasted like it was seasoned with all spice, just very bland. This $30.00 steak needs to pop with flavor and melt in your mouth. TIP: Steaks are served with butter on top to add not only flavor, but to the texture. This gives it the effect that it is melting in your mouth.
The sliced brisket needs quite a bit of work as well, I think it is store bought and heated up to serve. Definitely not made fresh either way. It was considerably dried out and didn't show any signs of a smoke ring. We ate very little of the brisket. My dog loved it though!
As for the sides, this is the only place I know of that doesn't give you Mac & cheese as an option with your brisket. There are lots to choose from though. Here is what I remember. Mashed potatoes, baked potato, French fries, green beans, baked beans, fried okra and 1/2 of a corn on the cob.
I hope to see some changes so I can...
Read moreSpending the weekends in the area for the summer and was looking for someplace different to try. I was in the mood for steak and this place had 4.4 on Google. I was very VERY disappointed. Let me start with the positives: The resturant was very clean, the service was great and the salad was fresh. That's what the 2 stars were for..... because the food deserves no stars at all! We started with fried green tomatoes..... they claimed to be 'homemade' but I would guess if they are they make up a bunch and freeze them. They were dried out, overfried and the tomato slices themselves were super thin. We were hungry so we ate about 1/2. My wife had the bacon wrapped filet (ordered well done) with a double order of the veggie skewers and added fried shrimp. The shrimp were ok.... the veggie skewers were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The first run of the filet was medium rare, they took it back and about 10 mins later they brought it back out... it was well done, but the steak had no flavor. I had the 1" ribeye, 3 bacon wrapped shrimp, tossed salad and coleslaw. The coleslaw looked and tasted like it came straight from the deli case at Wal-Mart. I cut into the Ribeye and it appeared to be cooked medium rare.... but the outside was like a cinder. The only flavor I got was charcoal! I didn't eat the coleslaw and ate about 1/2 the steak. The shrimp were also burnt but again.... hungry, so I ate it. So all in all we ate about half of what we ordered because the food was terrible.... then I got the bill. No booze no desert $92.00! We will...

On May 2, 2019 approximately 6pm.
The service was terribly slow (As if they were taking their time.) I got the special 16oz Prime Rib. When my food came it had about 6oz of fat (See attached picture). After complaining about the excess fat the manager came to me and told me that it is the way the steak comes. My next question was why didn't the waitress tell me it is a 16oz steak with 6oz of fat. Of course the manager told me "sorry I can't do anything about this" I chuckled and reminded her that she was the manager. At that point she walked away. I have been eating Prime Rib for a long time. Long enough to know this was NOT a good cut. This Prime Rib was the worst one I have ever gotten anywhere an it didn't taste good at all! On top of that there was a person at another table had a waiter change the TV from the Toronto and Philadelphia play off game and put on a lifetime reality show. I called our waitress over and ask her if she could just put on something that everyone would like. When she was changing the channel of course the people at the other table said that they were watching that. Our waitress replied while pointing at us that the people behind you don't want to watch this. My thought was why would Mesquite Pit train there employees to try to start a fight between other customers?
I will never eat here again.
I would suggest going to Pasta Fina, Chili's or even driving to Weatherford for a...
