Kindest staff I've ever seen at a shop. There are SO many coffees to choose from and the beans are roasted fresh consistently! However, they're all roasted dark and/or past the second crack (burnt), so wouldn't say the product is to my personal preference. Prices are a steal though ($1.03 for a cup of coffee at a shop?!), $3 for a cappuccino vs $4 at Starbucks or $5 at artisanal locations. All kinds of equipment line the walls, including Chemex brewers and vessels, Toddy cold brew makers, hand grinders, retro grinders, etc. It's honestly impressive when considering that even places like Spyhouse or Dogwood Coffee don't have this amount of stuff. Always feel free to come by. If you enjoy a wide array of dark-roasted coffees and an unorthodox , "hole-in-the-wall" feel, this place is perfect. The neighborhood is lovely too!

They have tons of varieties of coffee beans and loose leaf teas, from Ethiopian to Hawaiian, Pu-er to Earl Gray. For beans, they'll grind them on the spot to a fineness of your choosing, or they can bag them up whole and seal them in plastic to preserve freshness. All the employees are very nice and extremely knowledgeable about coffee and tea. They aren't snobbish in the slightest, and are happy to answer any and all questions you might have. You're welcome to smell any of the coffee on the shelf, and man does it smell fantastic. Dark and fragrant, this is probably the best coffee I've had If you're looking to ramp up your coffee game, this is the place to go. There's nowhere else like it.

I have been shopping at Coffee and Tea for about 35 years. No matter where I move to all I have to do is pick up the phone and order my beans!!! Jim has been a joy to work with all these past years and I try to stop into the Linden Hills location whenever I'm in the Twin Cities to say "Hello". Something about the old roaster that he uses and the smell of freshly roasted beans, the burlap bags from around the world that are full of "green" coffee beans, the familiarity of the shop I first stopped into back in 1983. Can't say enough about the quality of the coffee that comes out of this small shop!!!

Hello Jim,

I want to begin by reminding you that based on mutual trust, I delivered the goods to you without advance payment or a formal credit application. However, despite this trust, you have unfortunately proven me wrong, as I have yet to receive payment for the goods, despite several emails, phone calls, and messages sent in follow-up.

I understand that you have mentioned issues such as having a damaged PC, being ill, and undergoing surgery. While I empathize with your situation, these personal challenges do not explain the continued failure to settle our outstanding invoice. As you know, being in the coffee industry comes with a great deal of responsibility and commitment. The people who work hard day and night to feed their families from coffee in Yemen rely on timely payments for their livelihoods. This is not just business; it’s the wellbeing of families that depend on the success of this industry. It is simply irresponsible to take the coffee and not honor the payment agreement. At this point, if you are unable to pay, we will have no choice but to collect the coffee back from you. This situation cannot continue as it is.

I urge you to respond responsibly and immediately make the full payment. If you are not able to do so, please let us know, and we will arrange for the coffee to be collected from you. I hope to hear from you soon with a resolution.

Outstanding experience. This place brought back so many memories. It had so much charm and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The store itself is like walking into your weird uncle's garage (if your weird uncle were really into tea and roasting coffee). It's crammed full of boxes of tea and coffee. This isn't a place to come quietly peruse, it's a place to come and wonder aloud about a particular coffee or tea, inviting the conversation of the wonderful team behind the counter. Come ready to converse and you will be rewarded.

What about the coffee and tea?

First, real tea. None of the overwrought dried fruit salads or sugared madness many teas have become. While there are a few flavored teas, you'll find mostly classics like puh-erh, gunpowder, genmaicha, lapsang suchong and the like. The coffee will take you back to the early 90s where dark roasts thrived. The varietals available are stunning. Coffees from many places rarely seen in the mainstream and even niche coffee markets. When's the last time you saw Cameroon or Sulawesi on a shelf? And the espresso is especially great. A very European style, particularly the espresso noce, which was very much like drinking espresso in Naples.

Definitely recommend...

This is it. This is where you buy coffee and tea for the rest of your time. It sure is for me.

Let me walk you through my first visit. I walk in, and am greeted by a very kind older gentleman. He was very quick to make a suggestion based on my criteria - Jim's 5 Star. While he was weighing it up, another customer came in behind me and the gentleman behind the counter said "And he's been drinking our coffee for what, 50 years now?"

"Yep, I've been drinking it long since before they moved to Minneapolis. Now it's 25 minutes away and I still make the trek here."

What an incredible endorsement.

I got home and pulled two shots. Neither were dialed in well yet, but somehow both tasted incredible. Smokey, bold, earthy, chocolatey. Great acidity, wonderful aftertaste, and a magical aroma.

Thank you. Despite the 30 minute trip, I'll be...
