This is their “tempura udon” It’s tasteless, bland, the shrimp incredibly tough, all the batter completely unseasoned (and no dipping salt provided??). The dipping sauce provided is watered down. I have no idea why the “udon” has broccoli, bamboo shoots, and cabbage in it. This is just not udon. This is watered down vegetable soup with noodles. I called and placed the order for an unagi don (rice bowl) and the tempura udon (soup), and stringently clarifies multiple times that one was an Udon and one was a Don. I wait my 25 minutes to pick up, and of course they’ve prepared two rice bowls. Maybe I should have just taken it instead of facing the travesty of this fraudulent “udon.” I’m made to wait another 15-20 min, no one even offers me water, and of course not even an apology to me for the mix up, let alone any kind of reasonable compensation for my wasted time. I bring the food home, discover the fraudulent nature of this “udon” (there aren’t even green onions in this like come on), and called to complain, trusting that I’ll at least be taken care of. There is a blizzard today and they want me to bring the soup back in order to receive any kind of compensation. What an abhorrent attitude towards customers. If you enjoy bland food and poor service, Kyoto Sushi is your next stop. They should be embarrassed to serve food like this.

I have literally never reviewed a restaurant before, because I've never had experience bad enough to drive me to do so. That changed today. I ordered via Bite Squad (which I've seen the owner blame in other reviews for issues that are clearly the restaurant's fault). I ordered the Volcano Roll (Shrimp tempura topped with spicy tuna), the Sexy Girl Roll (Spicy tuna, crunchy inside, spicy crab meat on top), and the Dynamite Roll (Shrimp tempura, avocado, tobiko on top). The Dynamite Roll was missing avocado and tobiko, the Sexy Girl Roll was missing the spicy crab. When I opened the bag, I was overwhelmed with a disgustingly fishy smell. The wasabi was a hard, dried out lump. I tried two pieces and couldn't eat any more. I threw the rest out. The fish tasted off, the tempura shrimp was completely cold, rubbery, and soggy, even the soy sauce didn't taste quite right. Now an hour later, I'm feeling a little bit nauseous. Making matters worse, Bite Squad, who are usually super helpful with incorrect or bad orders, will only credit me for the missing items, which they've determined is $5 out of a $45 bill, and said I must contact the restaurant for any other issues. Based on the owner's responses to honest reviews on here and Yelp, it's clear that contacting the restaurant will be a total dead end.

I won't go back to this place anymore. The female server was very rude. She seemed not to welcome customers and her attitude was very disappointing. Fortunately, there was another male server to get our orders. He was polite and kind. However, no one came to our table to clean up empty dishes or ask if we need more water etc.(Oh, they even forgot to serve us water and spoons and forks at the beginning). Also, please see the photo. This is what we ate for all you can eat sushi. A thin/small piece of salmon slice on excessive/too much rice(the first pic). The shrimp tempura was cold, not even warm. I paid over $70, including an 18% tip(they automatically added 18% for 2 adults and a 3 years old toddler. Phewwww awful customer service!!!). Overall, this restaurant is not a good place. I strongly recommend the Maple Grove location(the second pic). *EDIT* FYI, please compare the two photos. I added another photo from Maple Grove Kyoto sushi. If you want good sushi with better service, go to Maple Grove.

Is there a negative star here? I’d like to rated a negative! We were there at early dinner time there were just a few customers there, we ordered our food usually the appetizers would come first but we didn’t get them! Our server didn’t even get some of our main course either. All the time the server was serving the table behind us back and forth. We only got her attention when she came by to serve the table behind us. I’d understand if it was busy! But clearly the manager and our server both served two guys. There were five of us. We ordered our shrimp tempuras with the server four times, they never came. We’re sitting there full of water. Last I checked this is a all you can eat sushi restaurant not a all you can drink water restaurant! finally after the fourth times our shrimp came just one. We clearly ordered 6 not one for four times! long story short, we offers to pay 10% tips but not 15%. The manager was rude and rising her voice at us for not pay the servers and the cooks. We never said we weren’t pay the bill, we just think the tips is too much for the losy service and we were more than generous to even pay 10% tips. She was clearly untrained and rude. We were supposed to be one that upset because it was a horrible service. She needs more training. Haven’t she heard the term, customer always right! In my case we were not wrong! I mean I know what a good customer service is and she has none! She even told us to go ahead write a review she doesn’t care. This is a chain restaurant, you will loose many customers if you have these kind of untrained and unprofessional people working here especially she’s claimed to be the manager. Never ever go to this chain restaurant again! You are not the only sushi restaurant in town!!

*IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER’S RESPONSE BELOW! FIRST I HAD NEVER BEEN IN YOUR RESTAURANT BEFORE!!!! IM FROM OUT TOWM. BY READING ALL YOUR RESPONSES TO OTHERS HERE, YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY FULL OF YOURSELF AND TAKE NO RESIBILITIES OVER YOUR LOUSY SERVICE AND UNPROFESSIONAL STAFFS INCLUDING YOU! TELLING LIES HERE! The worst service you could possibly get. We came in on mother’s day they only had all you can eat menu for $25.99 per person and it’s the same price for kids my daughter barely touched her California roll. We had a total of 5 maki rolls and deep fried scallops and beef and chicken teriyaki no flavor what so ever the food is really bland. The rolls came out really quick makes you wonder how long they’ve been sitting out. The beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki had no flavor and were pretty cold. The waitress and waiters were very rude just throw your food at you no customer service skills what so ever no one is saying anything what a disappointment that we even came up from Rochester for this. Honestly if want to waste your money and have horrible service come here it’s def a place for you.

Replying to the response from the owner:

HAHAHA! What service was I supposed to tip? The service where you don’t have basic customer service skills? Or the service of where I had my California roll thrown and slide on the table? As far as I know tips are earned based on the service you provide and you didn’t provide a service that was even remotely worth tipping. If anything you owe me for wasting 25 mins of my time. We ordered 3x because you didn’t bring out everything we ordered the first time. 4 rolls is not worth 117$ Also Learn how to season your food properly and don’t serve customers left over rolls that’s disgusting. If anything I should call the health inspector to have your place looked at. Please come visit Rochester and visit the local all you can eat sushi restaurants and take what you see and learn and bring it back to improve your place of business. SMH. Your business is an embarrassment to the...

Ordered for pickup on ChowNow three days ago. I ordered three hand rolls, seaweed salad, a noodle dish, and two ice creams. First, I started my order on the website before 7:30 and then had to switch devices to complete it and noticed that they added $1 to the price of almost every item, presumably due to it getting close to their 8:30 closing time. Then when I got there, I stood in the entrance for around 10 minutes with no interaction or direction from staff. A few minutes in, someone breezed by to literally throw my food on a table that was behind glass so I couldn't reach it, and didn't bother to check to see if the person standing in the entrance was waiting for that food. I finally called the restaurant and asked if I was waiting in the right place and she hung up the phone without responding, then walked up to the entrance and asked me questions. She's behind a glass barrier so I'm leaning in, clearly having a hard time hearing her, and she continues to speak at a regular volume and just looks generally irritated that I'm there. I get my bag of food, which was very small. I expressed concern that this couldn't possibly be my whole order, and she assured me it was. The food was all there, it was just far less than what I expected given we spent over $50 on the food itself. The hand rolls are tiny (they charge $2 extra per roll if you want it made in the typical maki style), the $13 noodle dish we ordered was small, and the ice creams were just a few bites worth of ice cream at most. In addition, the seaweed around the rolls was extremely chewy, pretty much inedible.

TLDR: staff treated me like I was an inconvenience to them, food was poor quality/quantity for how...
