Tasted/Ordered Taiwanese chicken, lychee lemon drop(alc), strawberry shaved ice, ube alc drink, honed milk tea, jasmine milk tea and I’m just gonna say I’m a quite disappointed.
I never give reviews but I want to give those who want to try this place a heads up. Please know that it’s all my opinion. I’ve traveled around to places like New York, Cali, the DMV area, and tasted lots of Asian foods but again this is my opinion.
I was excited to hear that boba and alc being one thing in Minnesota but it was underwhelming. Lychee lemondrop alc tasted like every other Asian inspired alcoholic drink. The ube alc drink tasted like the way Elmer’s glue smells. The strawberry shaved ice with chocolate syrup was the worst shaved ice I’ve ever tasted and I’ve had shaved ice from a decent amount of places. The Taiwanese chicken tasted average but for $8 I would be expecting more than 14 small bites. Honeydew milk tea was regular sugar level but it tasted WAYYY too sweet. Jasmine milk tea tasted decent. Another thing is service, it took us over 30minutes to get our Alcoholic Drinks. There was a server who did come once to me to say they were held back.
With all the negatives being said here are some positives. The place was nice, clean and would be a good place to meet with a date or a group of less than 4. The “waiters” were nice but you could tell that things were still new and they were getting used to the process. The boba was cooked perfectly but that’s to be expected. The furniture and interior decor was on point and was up to date and feels cultured.
I want to support small Asian businesses so I hope the owner see this and takes the critique.
Advice for business: Service was very slow and I more planning could’ve went into the process. Maybe some more bartenders are needed but the space seemed like it could only fit two comfortably. Sweetness Level was so high. The jasmine tea was a level 2 which I’m assuming it’s 50% but it was super sweet and tasted like it was 100%. More thought could be put into the sweetness level. It was a little confusing finding the right door to go up. Idk if this is a speakeasy situation but maybe a sign on the door that says “L2” or something. Taste, I would recommend having taste testers coming in to taste the hot foods and other items. Getting a diverse group and taking their opinions and using it to better the business is important. I’m sorry but the shaved ice we got shocked me from how someone would be ok with selling that. I know it’s a new drink place but definitely having the servers give estimates of drinks would help ease the impatience of customers. Branding- is this supposed to be a sit drink and go situation or a sit and relax vibe? If the second one I would recommend having seats assigned to groups because I came in with 10 people and we were split into four groups. Allowing customers to choose their own seats that weren’t movable takes away from the lux vibes of the brand. Music Choice: I loved all the songs that played but it took away from the lux vibes and give it more of a come and go vibe. Again idk what the branding is aiming for but that’s how I felt.
Final Regards- I know it’s a new business idea boba and alcohol but the branding does not mix well in my opinion. The place gives luxury but the boba specific drinks with no alcohol give a “to-go” and less formal vibe which ruins the alcoholic drinks that come in the fancy cups.
Again this is all MY OPINION. Please go try it out and support them but go in with low expectations especially if you’re going in now since they just started around 2-3 weeks ago. Feel free to message me if you have any...
Read moreI’ve been to L2 Tii Cup before and had good things to say, but after this visit, my opinion has changed drastically. From the moment we sat down, our server made us feel unwelcome. He was impatient, seemed irritated when we asked for a few more minutes to decide on our order, and made us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
While the food and drinks were okay, the service left much to be desired. We waited almost 20 minutes just to receive the sauces we politely asked for, which put a damper on the meal. I would be completely understanding if they were swamped with customers when we asked, however the restaurant had only 2 other active tables at that time. To make matters worse, the server’s attitude only worsened throughout the visit.
The experience took another negative turn at the end of the night. We were there for my sister’s birthday, and after she blew out the candles and had cake, the server came up and said, “You guys need to close out.” While we understood they were closing soon and were already in the process wrapping up, that is absolutely not the way to ask customers to pay.
We tried to help staff by moving the tables that we pushed together back to their original positions, and an accident happened—a cup fell and broke. Although we were extremely apologetic, the waiter shoved me aside while cleaning it up, which was both unnecessary and disrespectful.
Our table consisted of people who work in the serving industry and we were genuinely shocked by this behavior. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of professionalism and hospitality. I doubt I’ll be returning anytime soon. Don't waste...
Read moreL2 issa vibe and I would come back again for the food and boba! Tii cup is always solid in that department. Their popcorn chicken is always bomb and so is their panang curry chicken wings!
Now for the cocktails. I may try some other cocktails next time, but the ones I had were odd. I had the tom yum, ube, and matcha yuzu cocktails. Tom yum was okay and the better one of the three I had because of the popping mango boba and cutting up the thai chili to give it an extra kick. The ube was... strange and more sour than I thought. I was expecting a sweeter note but the ginger and lemongrass just really threw it off and I think those two ingredients make more sense in the tom yum cocktail, given tom yum is literally made with lemongrass and galangal. Heck, they can even throw some mama tom yum seasoning in there / on the rim to give it an extra funk that would definitely be more reminiscent of tom yum flavor. Idk just my opinion. Overall, I didn't like the ube at all and the waitress was really kind enough to not charge me for it and got me another drink, the matcha yuzu. I appreciated the strong taste of matcha in the drink, but again I felt like the balance was off and it wasn't something I was excited to keep sipping, but it was still much better than the ube drink.
I think another reviewer mentioned some of the cocktails are not as well balanced and I have to agree, especially for the ube.
Otherwise, I love the vibe and concept--drinks may just need a bit more editing imo. It's nice to have this kind of space...
