I’d like to preface this review by saying Red Cow is usually my favorite restaurant in the twin cities- I go every year for my birthday AND I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 10yrs. With that being said, this was the worst service I’ve experienced. I went in last Saturday afternoon, we decided to go to the bar thinking it’d be quicker and more low key. We were definitely wrong on the quicker front. Bar had maybe 10 other guests around it with the middle being completely empty. We sat there for a good 15 mins without being greeted or handed menus/ water. Finally the bartender dropped off menus and we asked for waters right away. Another 15-20 mins went by without water or a check in. I finally flagged her down and asked if we could put our order in and again asked for waters. She put our orders in but her response for the water was “yeah I’m busy and doing a round” the people next to us got up and complained to the managers about terrible service at this point so she finally gave us water in what seemed like a shot glass. We were at the hour mark, saw our drinks get made and just sit in the bar well for another 20 mins. Another manager was helping make drinks but nothing was getting ran out to guests and the bartender was just standing around washing glasses. Not acknowledging any guests or drink tickets at this point. We got our food and the food runner apologized for the wait but promptly ran away without asking if we needed anything. Still no drinks and our water was gone within seconds and asking for a refill was impossible. What appeared to be another bartender showed up- much friendlier and appeared to try and catch up. She saw the drinks stack and finally ran our drinks out! Only took an hour and a half for a margarita. The amount of times I wanted to jump back behind the bar and help out or take over was aggravating. It’s hard to believe the bartender has had any restaurant experience seeing as though she couldn’t handle 10 guests, make or run drinks or even acknowledge or talk to guests about the long wait service. 2nd bartender that stepped in helped a lot but it didn’t make up for the poor service up until she got there. All in all a very disappointing experience that makes me not...

This is a great spot, and its obvious the owners are up to something special as this is the 5th Red Cow location in only a few years. The burgers truly are better then the rest, and the good stuff doesn't stop there. We ordered up the cheese curds, and I'd take them anytime over what you can get at the state fair. They also added in a triple berry ketchup that was a perfect dipping sauce to the gooey cheese curds. The brownie a la mode desert was excellent with a big gooey dark chocolate brownie that I couldn't get enough of. I think next time though I'll have to try the doughnuts for desert!
The star of the show, the burgers are where it's at. They start with a perfect fluffy egg bun (for most burgers) and add in beef chuck that they ground themselves at the St Paul location (soon to be this location). The double barrel burger is smashed down to a thinner patty which helps create that ever so tasty maillard reaction of crisp little bits of beef that you just want to nibble on. Most of the other burgers aren't smashed, but a bit thicker - either way you are going to be satisfied. Another burger I've tried here is the Manhattan 2.0 burger - it is basically an explosion of different flavors and I'm pretty sure you are going to like it. Next up on my list to try will be the breakfast burger with egg and peanut butter on sourdough bread.
Service was great, even on opening weekend. The staff is friendly, did a great job picking up our finished plates and drink-ware, and was knowledgeable about all of the questions we had. The beer list is top notch here, with something like 40 beers on tap I'd guess without counting. Plenty of variety and many harder to find options as well.
Overall, this is a great addition to the neighborhood and I'll...
Read moreThe atmosphere is so friendly and very open. I loved how everything was set out, and the pride flags were awesome. :) The servers and host(s/esses) were super nice and always very attentive. We were checked on multiple times by multiple people. Wonderful service!
The food was good, but it was a little salty for my preference. My two friends didn't seem to mind, so that's probably a personal taste of mine. We got the chips and onion dip and it was super yummy. The chips were hot and very thick, and the dip was cool, creamy, and onion-y. I had the Strawberry Swing and it was super refreshing! Very fruity, fizzy, and tart. I would definitely get this drink again, and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes strawberry lemonade. :) For the main course, I had the So Cal vegan burger with coleslaw for the side. The bun was soft and the texture of everything was awesome. I really liked the garlic mayo. I tried some of the truffle fries, and those were super good. Very truffle-y, tender, and rich. The truffle flavoring added a "melt-in-your-mouth" feel to it! I think my favorites that came with my burger were the coleslaw and the pickle. The coleslaw was very cold, refreshing, and creamy. It also had this amazing peppery-spiciness to it, which I loved! The pickle spear was crunchy and very sour.
The bathroom was so cool!! Very amazing vibes. I loved how clean everything looked, and it was kept in very very good condition.
Overall, awesome place. The food was a bit salty for me, but I'll just have to try some other dishes here. Amazing service—I felt very...
