This review focuses solely on the food, as we opted for delivery and didn’t visit the location itself, but I assure you, it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment we unwrapped our meal, anticipation filled the air, and our taste buds were set ablaze with excitement.
Let’s start with the tortilla chips – they were nothing short of fantastic! Unlike those sad, broken pieces you often find at the bottom of the bag, these chips were wonderfully whole, fresh, and perfectly crispy. You could hear that satisfying crunch with every bite. They paired beautifully with the salsa, which had just the right amount of zing, enhancing every delicious morsel. You could tell these chips were made with care, and they truly stole the show right off the bat!
Next up were the barbacoa tacos, and oh my goodness, they were amazing! Each taco was a delightful little package of flavor; the meat was incredibly soft and tender, bursting with a medley of seasonings that danced on my palate. It’s the kind of food that makes you pause and savor each bite, as the richness of the barbacoa melded with the fresh toppings, creating a fiesta in my mouth.
Then came the star of the evening – the quesabirria! Let me tell you, this dish was on the next level! Picture this: each bite packed with ooey-gooey cheesy goodness that made me want to keep reaching for more. The savory broth combined with the beautifully cooked meat had me hooked instantly. I could have eaten it for days and never gotten tired of that deliciousness.
To wrap up our evening, we indulged in chicken and pork tamales. While they were very good and hearty, I have to say they didn't quite measure up to some of the incredible tamales I've enjoyed at restaurants back in West Saint Paul. They felt a tad lacking in seasoning compared to what I’m accustomed to, but let me clarify, they were still amazing! Generously sized and incredibly filling, they made for a satisfying end to our meal.
Overall, this delivery experience was a delight, and I can wholeheartedly recommend these dishes to anyone looking for fantastic Mexican food. Just imagine sharing this feast with friends or family, creating bonding moments over each delicious bite. I can’t wait to try more from the menu and, hopefully, to enjoy it in the cozy ambiance of the restaurant...
Read moreCame in on a late Friday night seeing the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. However, the hours listed on Yelp were incorrect, we got there around 9:40 pm and they close at 10:00 pm, not 11 pm as stated. I mentioned this to the lady at the register but she didn't seem to care. Minor inconvenience I guess.
The ambiance is nice, styled like a Mexican courtyard with the fast food up front and the nicer sit down area in the back at the bar. Since we were pressed for time we got the fast food. I ordered the burrito with the tinga chicken (shredded chicken simmered in a Serrano pepper sauce) and my husband ordered the Maya plate special with a chicken tamale, tacos and a tostada also with the tinga chicken. We got the following salsas on the side: Chile de arbol (hot), Serrano (extra hot) and habanero and onion (extra hot). I was really happy with the flavor of all the items. I could add basically all the fixings I wanted to my burrito. I chose to add seasoned rice, chicken, fajita peppers, onions and cilantro. No beans because I hate them. I think I scarfed that thing down with lime and chile de arbol salsa because I remember thinking how I was craving more. My husband said his plate was also enjoyable.
We were delighted with how delicious the food was because we used to live in Southern California and I might have to say this is one of the best taco places I've ever tried. Only down side is no fish/shrimp on the fast food side, only at the bar.
Pleasantly surprised by this place in Minnesota. Definitely...
Read moreI was a regular customer, and the service lately has been HORRIBLE. First, it's a big problem for their teenage high school son to card the adults and handle and open alcoholic beverages ( I may report this). Second, the ladies have been penny-pinching super small portion sizes right in front of all the customers for the Maya plate that has been $11.07 for the longest and just went up out of the blue ( with no notice) to $12.96. The young teenage boy started laughing when the price concern question came up of the change five days later. Let's be HONEST! Maya Cuisine food is cheap. And now they are going to lose people for this!! The penny pinching is so bad where one lady spent like 2 minutes taking the barbacoa beef back and forth out of the taco's tortilla to make sure it wasn't enough to fill the taco. She continues to do the same for the rice and beans to where it's only half a spoonful. Come on RICE AND BEANS ARE CHEAP, PEOPLE!! The meat/food is not hot ( it's cold) and some of the women come off really-really rude and smart mouths- because they don't understand English terms from the customers. I wanted to love this place. BUT the customer service AND food quality are UNACCEPTABLE. You don't need that many people working there for you need to cheat people so you can pay the family workers. STOP shortchanging the people in the neighborhood. A word of mouth and reviews goes a long...
