This is hands down the MOST STUNNING vegan pizza we have ever eaten! It was deeply flavorful, didn’t have the weird textures so many vegan pies have, and we felt so satisfied after. We forgot it was vegan after the first bite.
The 12” was more than generous for two hungry people to share. The staff was extremely kind and the atmosphere was great—we got takeout, but we will absolutely be back to dine-in. The vegan eloté is the way to go—wow!
**This is our favorite place in Minneapolis—we’ve ordered here at least twice a month for nearly a year. Our last night in Minneapolis, after having sold our car before hopping on a plane, we tried to order delivery. We’ve had pizza Lucé delivered here before, but somehow we are now out of the delivery range. They said they couldn’t even find the address on a map (which is silly—google and Apple Maps send us here no problem.) We powerfully wanted this to be our last meal here, but the manager seemed to think I was crazy and that they’d never delivered to us. He picked up the phone and asked me what I wanted, I was flustered and asked if he knew what the situation was or if he needed me to tell him. He snapped that there were “no exceptions” and then he just sat there silent on the phone. I wish instead there had been some explanation for the delivery range changing, instead of receiving the treatment I did. I’m a genuinely kind person, and being met with people’s mistrust in others (mistrust in themselves) can be painful. It’s not the note we wanted to leave Minneapolis on, or how we wanted to remember our favorite pizza joint. We have been loyal customers with a ton of points racked up that we’ve never cashed in on. I’m from small town Southern US, and it’s really bittersweet when you live in a city that decides anonymity rules the roost rather than valuing the relationship to community members —we’ve converted many folks to Pizza Lucé while we’ve lived here, and happily spent a wild amount of money here, and we’ve been so sad to leave it behind. I hope folks decide to value the community connections in the future—we can choose it...
Read moreDebated writing this because it was hopefully just one bad day and we happened to exist during it, but I think it was odd enough to mention here. Not sure what the issue was besides maybe a terrible work day being taken out on us, but our waitress was very loudly talking about how she didn't want to be there and taking shots behind the bar. She would walk away WHILE we were ordering when she bothered coming over at all from behind the bar five feet away and roll her eyes at us for asking if we could order items that were listed on the menu. Her answer was always "no" or "you can read the menu right there." to see if we could order ciders within our line of sight. We did read that menu and she'd default to "no, we don't have that" when we could see the tap lines?? and of course read, which she was VERY insistent on us doing again and again as though we didn't have ample time to do so while she ignored us with zero other tables in her section (!!!), it was off-putting and bizarre. We were a walk-in on a very slow week day so maybe she was banking on having no tables at all? Unclear. The entire group is either currently waitstaff or has previously been in the biz and were all stuck not enjoying dinner wracking our brains to think of what we could have possibly done to make this person treat us so poorly and like a nuisance. It was a 150+ bill, and she went out of her way to let us know we were an inconvenience in a mostly empty restaurant. Originally we were going to order another pizza to go for our friends who couldn't meet us there but we quickly pivoted to a chicken spot down the road instead and closed out!! The large bill all came on one tab and we had to sort it out amongst ourselves. She walked away while we were asking about the tab, too. Really hope her day got better once we left...
Read morePizza Luce is one of my favorite restaurants around. I go to Roseville and St. Paul often! Eden prairie as well, every now and then! They have wonderful vegan options!! They’re always so consistently great as well! I’m downtown every Wednesday night and have ordered from the downtown location about 7 or 8 times. Every single time my pizza has been messed up in one way or another. Always, and ONLY at this location. I get these same pizzas at every other location very frequently so I know how they’re supposed to taste. I figured maybe they’re just bad at the specialties, which are my go to. Maybe it’s just the Wednesday crew that sucks? Well, this past Friday I happened to be in minneapolis and decided to order a more simple pizza and give the Friday night crew a chance.. pizza showed up with no sauce? How can this happen all the time? It’s safe to say I won’t be going to, or ordering from this location again. I will have to give my business to some other restaurant downtown every Wednesday. I’ll stick to the other Luce’s when I’m not downtown. Sad to think that this is probably one of the most busy locations, people from out of town ordering it and thinking THIS is what Luce is like? I go to any of the other locations and enjoy some of the best and most unique pizza I have in my life! Yet every time or day of the week at the downtown location have a bland, messed up, and underwhelming pizza. Seems they’re very consistent as well, except, unlike the others, it’s at making bad pizzas instead of good ones. A few years back it wasn’t like this! Hope the downtown location gets it together soon. They’ve already lost a loyal customer here! I’ve had multiple friends and family complain about the same experience at this location as well.. so I certainly l won’t be the last one they lose if they...
