What started out very promising quickly turned into a disappointing and frustrating stay. My sister and I traveled to Minneapolis with my 12 year old nephew and his friend to see the NFL game. As it was a birthday present, we wanted to have it be a special few days- hence staying at the Four Seasons. Prior to our arrival I spoke to the concierge around our upcoming stay and she was lovely. Upon check in the boys room had baskets and balloons, which was so thoughtful and the views in both rooms were beautiful. It was soon after that that it went downhill. Room service was inconsistent and often times bordering on rude. Traveling with 12 year old boys requests such as American cheese for the burger, or a smaller burger as the adult size was huge were met with responses such as “we don’t have American cheese, the hotel is used to more elevated palates” or “no we can’t make a child’s cheeseburger.” I had called prior to booking to ensure the hotel was the right fit for traveling with 12 year olds and assured that it absolutely was. Service for breakfast in the restaurant one morning was dismissive with the waiter not speaking 2 words to us and when we asked for a slightly bigger table in the empty dining room was told this is the only section open. We had booked a stadium tour the first afternoon there, was going to take an uber but the hotel offered the van to take us to the stadium. We explained we needed to be there by a certain time and was assured no problem, it would only be a few minutes. After 20 minutes we had to go over and ask if it would be much longer as we were going to be late. The response was”we can’t control how fast the van comes back.” We quickly ordered an uber and just made it in time. No apologies or acknowledgement of this. The next day after a long day at the game, we got back to the rooms at 4:45. Neither room had been cleaned and they were just starting on the first room. Extra towel requests were met with the response of “ how many towels do you have?” Requests for ice water with room service was responded to by saying “you have ice and water in the tool, you want more ice water?” I spoke to multiple people through the stay all who were very apologetic but unfortunately with very little change during despite what I believe were best intentions. |I have stayed at other Four Seasons as well as other hotels in the Minneapolis area, and this has never been my experience. We had a great trip, but it was despite our hotel stay rather than because of it. None of the issues in and of themselves were terrible but all combined, made the hotel experience unpleasant. I was disappointed for the boys as had told them what a special hotel it was and how friendly everyone is. Neither of those things were apparent...
Read moreMe and my wife decided to have a 1 night staycation at the Four Seasons Minneapolis over the summer. This was our first trip without our daughter and we were very excited to stay here. Unfortunately, we had a disappointing trip.||Check In - to me this is such an important part of a hotel that gets overlooked in hotels that are poorly managed. Sadly, the experience here was not good. The person who checked us in was not friendly. He did make us feel welcome. Not a pleasant conversation. I had to ask for the welcome drink that people next to me were being offered. We felt like a burden.||Rooms - rooms were very clean and comfortable. I will say the rooms are small which for the 2 of us was fine for a 1 night stay. But if we had our daughter with us it would have been too small.||Pools - this is where our stay went from ok to bad. We chose this hotel because it is a 5 star hotel with an outdoor pool. When we arrived at the outdoor pool we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. We put down our room number and decided to go wait in the indoor pool. While we waited in the indoor pool the staff would walk by us and ignore us. We wanted to order food and drinks but the staff just kept ignoring us. 1 hour had gone by and still no access to the outdoor pool. Therefore, we decided to leave the hotel to grab lunch somewhere that would have staff that actually wanted to help us. 4 hours after we had put our name on the waiting list we received a call from the hotel saying we could use the outdoor pool. It was 5pm and we could finally use the outdoor pool. They did apologize and gave us a round of drinks. But this horrible experience just left a bad impression on the hotel for us.||Dining - this is where the hotel shines. Mara is the restaurant next to the lobby. Incredible food and service. This is the only place in the hotel that had good service. I will warn you that the wait time for food is long. But the food is very good and service is very good. ||Amex FHR - we booked through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR). No upgrade. We did use the $100 credit for dinner at Mara which was nice. Only $60 credit for breakfast which was not enough. At other FHR stays we are normally offered $80 or $100 credit for breakfast. ||Conclusion - we will not be choosing the Four Seasons for our next staycation. There are many luxury choices in the area that have better service and better staff. And honestly even if there weren't other choices I would prefer to stay home to avoid the rude staff and long wait times to use an outdoor pool. However, I will come back for Mara restaurant. Will just stay at a...
Read moreI stayed at the 4S MSP for three nights (Fri-Mon) and had an enjoyable stay, but felt like it fell short of 4S service standards.||When I arrived Friday night at around 9:30pm, the driveway was packed with cars, and there was a bit of a wait to be let out. Upon arrival, there was no bellman, no doorman, and a short wait to check-in. I was offered Champagne upon check-in, but was given about 2 oz of Champagne. When check-in was complete, I asked for more and received another 2oz. Felt cheap. This was the norm for the rest of the stay from a service perspective; indifferent front desk staff, missing doormen, and a constant traffic jam in the driveway. It felt very chaotic and impersonal - I feel like 4S usually has a much higher service standard, and it is sad to see it doesn't exist at this hotel. Like one of the doorman (when present and visible) just ignored me every time I said hello and thank you - so bizarre. Or you'd like by the front desk on your way out and no one would say hi or bye.||The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and I have no feedback to share on the property or the room - great use of space, great tech; everything exceeded my expectations. I received consistent twice daily housekeeping, and was always brought extra coffee pods, waters, etc., during both services. I appreciated the HUGE walk-in shower and Le Labo bath products.||Food and beverage ranged from average to good. I ordered room service breakfast two mornings, and the food was always delivered ahead of schedule. I thought the quality of the room service breakfast was also quite good. I did the Sunday breakfast buffet (on Sunday of course...) and found the experience to be a bit underwhelming. The food was mostly fine, but the sweet items were all overly sweet, very cheap and low quality baked goods. I was also surprised with the hefty price tag that at least coffee and juices were not included. The buffet felt more like a regular hotel breakfast buffet as opposed to a special once per week BRUNCH buffet (in fact about 90% of what was offered was breakfast food). I also received good service at the Mara bar one night - the drinks were yummy.||I did not partake in any other amenities at the hotel, but I did poke around on level 4 (the "fun" floor) and thought the gym and pool facilities...
