First of all, I need to preface that I never leave negative reviews nor am I someone to easily complain. If you pour soup on my lap I’ll probably apologize to you.
I have been staying at this hotel twice a year for sometime as I am a remote employee who travels ti HQ for biannual weeklong vendor meetings. I arrived on Sunday at 10pm from LAX after a 3 hour delay and had called the hotel ahead asking if their kitchen was still open seeing that their restaurant closed at 11pm. They said yes and so I arrived to the hotel at 10:30pm and went to the very packed restaurant to be told they were no longer serving food because “someone went home sick.” Ok, I understand. I then go to my room and see on the Marriott app that I could still order room service until 11pm. Confusing but whatever.
I go to bed then wake up to screaming at 1am coming from the room next to me. The guests in that room were repeatedly screaming obscenities to each other, doors were repeatedly being slammed, at one point the woman tried to leave but I could hear the man threaten her that he would kill her if she ran away. I feared it was a potential case of human trafficking, I also feared for my safety, the security came and separated the couple. After the security left the woman kept shrinking, screaming and crying and would not calm down. I then called the front desk and asked for a different room. They told me to quickly pack up and go downstairs. Great.
I got moved to the same tiny room 12 floors down, was not asked if I was interested in an upgrade nor was I asked if I was ok after the late night scary experience. Mind you, my coworker who was in the room on the other side of the couple was upgraded to the 29th floor to a suite. But alas.
Then come Monday morning I realized I had left the tee shirt that I was going to wear that day hanging on the back of the chair to dewrinkle in the room from the previous night. I called the front desk asking if I could retrieve it, they said they needed to check with housekeeping and to check in later. I went to work, came back, asked again about the tee shirt but was told I would hear back from the housekeeping manager the next day at 8am since it was not in the lost and found. I told them that I needed to be at work at 7am and that I would not be there to wait for the call, they said I should have a voicemail waiting for me when I get back. But guess what? I did not! I followed up AGAIN TWO TIMES and kept being told I would hear about it the next day.
The night before I checked out I asked AGAIN about my tee shirt at the front desk and was told the same thing, that they needed to check with the housekeeping manager. I told the lovely front desk attendee that I no longer believed them, told them about my awful stay and I was told I’d be called by some higher up today, Friday at 12pm to talk about my experience. It is now 2:30pm pacific and no call. I was also told they would mail me my tee shirt but they didn’t take my address even after I asked if they needed it. I checked out, Friday morning, no portion of my stay was comped or was I compensated for any of my distress or fear for my safety.
So anyway, for the FIFTH time to whatever Marriott employee is reading this. Since you keep asking me to describe my tee shirt, it is a medium blue tee shirt, 100% cotton, cropped, garment pigment dyed, 18 inches long from the brand Richer Poorer, $40, size small. I work in apparel so I’m happy to give you more technical details like the size of yarn used and the fabric weight or even a Pantone color to help you find it. It was left hanging on the back of the desk chair in room 2415 on Monday July 22nd at 1:37am.
I don’t care if you don’t find it, just flipping tell me the TRUTH and that you don’t have it or that it was thrown away.
And no, I will not be staying here again and yes, I will tell everyone about this experience because if you can’t do something as simple as being honest to your guests about a large lost item then no, I do not trust you to keep me safe in the middle of the night in a...
Read moreBEWARE OF ATTACHED PARKING GARAGE. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BY HOTEL MANAGEMENT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Stayed here the past week with my Nephew celebrating his high school graduation. We had a fantastic time in the city and were a quick walking distance to Target Field and the Target Center. The Twins were in town all week so we attended three of their games. We also went to the Vikings preseason game vs the Raiders, which was also within walking distance. Tonight we went to the Lynx game at the Target Center vs the Mystics.
BEWARE if parking in the attached parking garage! The one plastered with all the signs that say “Marriott Parking.” Apparently they aren’t affiliated with the garage. I was told tonight by the manager that their contract ended 4 months ago. I guess that is not enough time for the garage OR the Marriott to take down all of the signs saying “Marriott Parking.” I guess it also isn’t enough time for the Marriott to train their front desk staff on the fact that they should no longer instruct guests to park there anymore since the contract for the affiliation no longer exists. I can’t help but feel like it's a flat out lie. If your affiliation with another business ended FOUR MONTHS ago, then either party would have ensured by now that all signs advertising the affiliation would be taken down.
I have been grossly overcharged multiple times during our stay for parking in the attached garage. The Marriott manager wants no part of helping me, accepts no responsibility for me being told to park there, and offered absolutely no assistance in helping me contact the garage or secure a refund for the overcharges.
The front desk attendant I first spoke to about it called “the manager” who was allegedly in his car driving on his way home. He made some incorrect statements to “the manager” and neglected to correct himself when I pointed out what he said was not correct. When the call ended I asked for the manager's business card. The front desk attendant went “out back” to get one for me and came back with “the manager.” When I asked if this was the manager that was just on the phone driving home, I was informed this was a “different” manager. Why in the world would he have called a manager who wasn’t working when there was a manager on duty and IN the hotel? Why was this on duty manager not the one contacted in the first place? I definitely feel like there was some shady business being pulled. I've never had a situation handled like this at a hotel before.
So just beware that even though there are about 20 signs in the garage that say “Marriott Parking”, and the front desk staff may tell you to park in the attached garage, that is NOT actually Marriott Parking and if you get overcharged or have any issues in or with the garage labeled as “Marriott Parking”, Marriott will give you the brush off and NOT assist you with said issue. The only effort the manager will make to help you is to take every opportunity to tell you they can’t.
Having stayed at many Marriotts in my travels, I have never received such poor customer service or felt like I was being lied to or brushed off. This hotel location is great, the hotel itself is very nice and clean, but it is the last place I would recommend anyone to stay that is visiting Minneapolis or the...
Read moreWe are Marriott members and have therefore traveled to a lot of Marriott hotels. While this hasn't been our worst experience, it certainly wasn't good. We checked in on a Saturday around 1:00p.m. The valet/loading/unloading area was crazy busy and there was no option but to stop in the bus lane or the road. Throughout or 4 day stay there was not nearly enough valet staff and it took upwards of 25 minutes to wait to get our car in order to leave on some occasions. The phone to the valet also didn't work so there was no option to call ahead for the vehicle to avoid the lengthy wait. However, the valet staff was friendly and they worked incredibly hard.
The hotel boasts itself as being "modern" but the popcorn ceilings and scratchy towels suggest otherwise. Although we had received turn down service, there was no conditioner in the shower which showed a disregard to detail in my opinion. The television in the room also didn't work. On one occasion we asked for a bandaid and they told us they didn't have any.... so either the staff were too lazy to get a bandaid or they don't take safety and first aid seriously. Perhaps the biggest complaint of our stay was the disgusting ice/vending area (see photos). When we arrived on Saturday and walked to our room we noticed it looked like a vending machine had recently been moved and there was trash and an odor coming from the area. We had just checked in so obviously didnt know how long it had been like that and had assumed they had just taken it out. However, the next morning (over 20 hours later) the mess was still there. My husband took a picture of the mess and showed it to the front desk staff and asked them to have it cleaned up. The woman at the front desk apologized and was sending someone "right up" to take care of it. We left for the day and came back about 6 hours later. The mess was still there. My husband then complained to a manager who sounded annoyed and was going to "try" and have someone clean it up. It did eventually get cleaned prior to our departure. If this is how much they care about the cleanliness of the common areas of the hotel imagine the corners they cut within the actual rooms.
The location of the hotel was great and the view from our specific room was nice. The bed was comfortable and we didn't personally have any issues with the noise level within or outside the hotel. Thats about all the good I have to say about this hotel. We overall enjoy Marriott properties but will likely not...
