We booked the hotel for an anniversary staycation. We wanted to stay somewhere nice, but we didn't need anything extravagant. Loews seemed to fit the bill. We booked a Grand King because it had a jacuzzi soaking tub. It was our first time staying here.
While we had a nice time, the hotel experience wasn't smooth or up to our standards. We arrived about an hour after checkin. When we got to the desk, the receptionist radioed the maintenance staff to ensure the room was prepared. After about 5 minutes of back and forth, we were informed that there was a broken light in the room and would we like to wait until it was fixed or go up. We asked to go up immediately because we weren't going to wait in the lobby or the bar with our suitcases when they had an extra hour to prepare the room. We'd deal with the fixture issue. They didn't offer anything for the inconvenience, but it was only a small annoyance. Fine.
Then, we discovered the jets in the tub didn't work. And the caulking in the tub was starting to degrade. That was frustrating, but it was a spacious and comfortable tub otherwise. I didn't inform maintenance because it was around 10pm and I didn't want to deal with the hassle. Still, frustrating especially when the room is upcharged because of that amenity.
Finally, the next morning I discovered the toilet wasn't working. The water pressure was quite low, and it was maybe clogged. Always a delicate issue, but very frustrating as we hadn't done anything that would clog it. I think that the low water pressure may have been due to a low flow toilet on the 17th floor. Maintenance came quickly and "fixed" the problem, but we would continue to have issues for the next 4 hours of our stay. We were offered a late checkout for the inconvenience, but we'd already purchased a package that included lat checkout. Nothing else was offered for the situation. And, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but the two musts for me at any hotel are a bed and a working bathroom.
The good points: friendly staff, quick room service, very comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, and you can text the front desk.
Would we stay here again? Probably not. If you're looking for something more upscale, pick another hotel. If you're shopping for something with a good location, this one will probably do fine.
UPDATE: The charges I received seemed incorrect, so I requested an itemized bill. I haven't received an itemized bill, but I did receive PDFs of the two times I used in-room dining. Despite purchasing a package that included breakfast, they did not deduct the charge from my bill. I also still don't know where some of the mystery charges are coming from. Reached out to get it corrected.

Read moreWhen we arrived at 4:00, our room was not ready. I checked in and gave the gentleman my credit card as well as our cell number so he could text us when our room was ready. He gave us a drink voucher for the lounge, buy one drink and get one free. At 5:15, we still had not heard anything and decided to walk back to the front desk to find out what was going on. Somehow we were overlooked. We told the new person at the front desk we had dinner reservations at 6:30 and he said he would get us into a room right away and he did. When we got to our room, we found the other people’s luggage, purse, laptop, iPad and other personal items were already in there! The room was already occupied!!! I was pretty shocked! How does that happen?? I called to the front desk and the manager apologized and said they would get us into another room. We go back down to the front desk and told the manager we have dinner reservations and by this time had very little time to get cleaned up. He said he would give us an upgraded room and a $50.00 credit for food. I told him again we were not planning on eating at the hotel so he said he would apply that $50.00 credit off my bill. I agreed that was fair and I also asked for a ride to our restaurant since we were now running so behind. He did arrange for a car to pick us up, which I appreciated. I told him the errors were ok, it was a mistake and appreciated the offer for the credit. Today when I look at my bank account, I found I was charged $195.15. I DID NOT RECEIVE MY $50.00 CREDIT!! I can’t believe everything that happened but on top of everything, I never got the credit I was promised. Something else I want to stress is when we were given someone else’s room, it’s a good thing we are honest people because if the wrong person had gotten that room with all those valuables, the other occupant could have gotten a lot of expensive things stolen! A few days after, the manager called me to apologize and address the issues. During our phone call, he had to put me on hold, came back and asked if he could call me back. I said that was fine. Going on day 10 without a call back which is another reason why I'm posting my review. Very disappointed in service! I finally received the $50.00 credit promised but I will NEVER stay at this...
Read moreDate night for a concert Saturday night March 22nd, room 606. Very much impressed upon arrival, very nice hotel. Guy checking us in was very professional. Room was very nice, simple and quiet. Concert went well, returned, and went to bed. Upon waking up, I found a bug crawling on my pillow, never seen bed bugs before, thought it was nothing. The wife googled it, yup, Bed bug. She bagged it and brought it to the front desk and presented this issue to the front desk guy working, says he was the manager. Stated they would address the issue in the room and pulled the zip lock bag below the desk out of sight, seemed more worried about other people seeing it than us having to go through this disgusting experience. He mentioned he was unable to refund because we booked thru Priceline, which did a wonderful job contacting the hotel and advocating for us. I would recommend that you remain within sight of the front desk while you’re on the phone with the third party vender. When Priceline initially contacted the hotel, a female stated she knew nothing of the incident. Not sure, but could have been a convenient miscommunication between the two. Now brings on the bad part. Googling bed bugs and what do. After arriving home hours away, we begin the process of quarantining everything. Threw out a lot of our personal property including my CPAP replaceable parts. Which are not cheap. Meanwhile, everything remains outside for the next 2 weeks. Although we didn’t find anything other than that one bug, I’m not risking getting that crap in my house. After stripping down and running into take hot showers. Off to the laundry mat to wash 3 bags of clothes. Sat in there for hour and half. What a crappy day after a long drive. The hotel was very nice, fancy, I would not expect this experience from the look of the place. We were offered no info or courtesy bags to put our stuff in before getting into our vehicle. We perceived that we were just an inconvenience for staff working that morning. With other hotels in the area, next trip to the Target Center will be staying at a different hotel. Customer service that morning was inattentive and unbothered. I’m still annoyed this Monday...
