I want to start by saying I have always been Team Caribou! I have never had a bad experience until now when purchasing coffee. 8/5/18 around 12:30pm I decided to go to this Caribou because it was closer to my cats Veterinarian. I entered and ordered 2 Carmel coolers and a apple fritter. I handed the cashier a $100 she asked the other employee if they had change. I offered to use my card to avoid any hassle or wait. She swiped it and said it's not going through. Must be a mistake because I have money. (Brush it off and think it could be the computer). I hand her the $100 bill again. She states she dont know what to look for when trying to detect a counterfeit (still waiting patiently and wondering if she was trained correctly) She calls for the other employee she uses the marker and light (while looking confused) then said "we cant take this" I'm like why? She states its counterfeit. Now I'm embarrassed at this point and angry. I said I got this money from the bank, she says well the banks been having counterfeit. I left went to the bank WOW! Went a another store they marked it and said it's real. Wanted to be sure went to Wells Fargo and it was confirmed real. They embarrassed me and I will never go to that unprofessional, lack of trained, unapologetic place again. Read moreI visited this location this morning and I continue to be disappointed by caribou coffee lately. I ordered two large iced caramel high rises, one with plant milk instead of dairy milk, and everything seemed fine. I paid and thought that maybe the price of the coffee went up, but didn’t question it. After I pay, the barista comes to the window and informs us that they can’t make a cooler with oat milk. I responded with a clarification that they meant a caramel high rise and they responded, “yeah”. I was confused but okay. But when they handed us our drinks, they were not iced caramel high rises, but instead a blended cooler coffee (with dairy milk may I add).
I want to clarify that I asked for oat milk due to a severe lactose intolerance, not just because I prefer it. Also, they were not busy by any means of the word, so that wasn’t the issue.
I would NOT recommend this location of caribou coffee in particular, but this is not the first time a caribou coffee barista has given me dairy milk after I asked for plant milk. I used to love going to caribou coffee, but the quality is of their baristas are...

I had requested a little bit of coconut milk to be added to my drink and then when I was receiving the drink there was a lot put in. So I kindly requested to have less put in and she slammed the window to show me how upset she was. She rudely gave me the drink which tasted really odd and I felt like something was done to it so I didn’t even finish it. I go to caribou 3 times a week and have never had someone do that over such a little request. It’s very unfortunate to spend this much money on coffee plus tip to then be treated that way.
