Better late than never! Want to give a huge shout out to one of the managers at Hawthorne‘s in Mint Hill (Ben) and staff (Ryan) for pulling together and serving our Group a wonderful buffet style, catered pre-wedding dinner for a dear friend! Hawthorne’s has always supported us (parishioners from St Luke) with a variety of gatherings (and some personal ones like soccer dinners) but I think this was one of our larger celebrations and it was perfect! Their catering menu has a variety of dishes that you can customize, they gave us the entire back room at no charge, allowed us to come early and decorate as well as bring in an outside dessert. Incredibly easy to work with, very organized, all the guests were so happy with the food and the service. This was after we were told last minute by our clubhouse that they couldn’t accommodate us even with a big deposit. Ben and Ryan really pulled things together and made it easy to just show up and enjoy the celebration. Food was fantastic we had chicken piccata, homemade garlic mashed potatoes, Hawthorne salad with their fabulous blue cheese balsamic dressing on the side, sausage peppers and onions, garlic rolls and penne a la vodka. Definitely would recommend them I believe we had approximately 20 to 25 seats and plenty of room at the tables in the back room for food plates cake and gifts. The catering was priced just right, plenty of to-go containers so there was no wasted leftover and it was a no brainer for us as far as leaving the cleanup to Ben’s team! Hope this helps someone else in a pinch but especially because it was a weekday dinner (5pm) we pretty much were given carte blanche.

My wife and i took her 75 yr old mother here for dinner. First off, the food was mediocre. The salads Hawthorne, Greek, and Ceasar were edible and had ok flavors. The pizza was okay, but cold and nothing special. The fun begins when you walk out and find your car is 'gone' towed. There are people 'spotting' on the poorly lit steps over the extremely uninviting back door. apparently, the second we walked in, we were towed. My mother in laws car was towed. We had just spent $80 on a meal at this place, and we were towed. The tow company was very confrontational, and the restaurant refused to even call. They offered an Uber to the tow yard 20 miles away. The parking lot was less than half full before and after we ate. Needless to say to Mint Hill police were called by us. We learned this has turned into a common orrcuance. We were told the towing company was charging based on the price of car 🚗 to get your car back. Be aware we ate here and went no other place!! It's not worth the risk at all!! If you like to be the victim of predatory towing. And gouging by the tow company, then this is your place. If I were the owners, II would have dropped what I was doing and fixed the situation. Mint Hill deserves better skip Hawthornes.

I always try to give Hawthorne’s “another” chance but every time I do I am reminded why I don’t come here often. Did a to-go order, the girl at the register acted annoyed I was there, had to go get a manager and a few minutes go by and the manager comes around from the other direction asking if I had been helped sooo we’re just going to assume that was a miscommunication. By the time I got home (less than 5 miles away) my food (mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken pizza) was already lukewarm and cold. Opened the pizza box and this is how the dressings were handled. Thankfully I had a coupon so it wasn’t an expensive loss but still annoyed. $41 for cold mozzarella sticks and lukewarm pizza with spilled ranch. El-oh-el Hawthorne’s.

Just warning my local Mint Hill people and friends. If you've ever parked at Hawthorne's when the char bar parking lot is full, they will boot or tow your car. It cost us $450 to get my wife's car from a tow company tonight after eating. There is a large sign when you come into the front of Hawthorne's that says your car will be towed that I noticed on the way out. In the back there is a sign as well but not as bright and is bent, which is the way she came in (and likely the way anyone going to char bar would enter) so not nearly as visible. We noticed they have a spotter on the upper deck of the ladder at the back doing dispatch work to the tow company ready to call you in the moment you step out of your car. Keep in mind there were plenty of parking spaces. There were 3 cars with boots in them and ours had already been towed. On the phone the manager of Hawthorne's said it is the property manager who is organizing this but the towing company said Hawthorne's hired them, so I don't know. All I know is we don't get out much with special needs kids and Mint Hill has been one of the areas we go to as it is not too far of a drive from the house so that if our kids become unmanageable we are not far from base. I know I have many friends and family who live in or around Mint Hill who have likely done exactly what Emily did tonight, and I just want to make you all aware. I've been to Hawthorne's probably a hundred times since they opened. I've even parked at char bar to go to Hawthorne's. Obviously Hawthorne's has the right to tow anyone not using their parking lot for their business, I understand that, I just did not realize how aggressively they were enforcing this and I will not...

Update: We visited again this past October and the service was even better than the first time. We actually had the other family members that went to the cornmaze join us. We were a total 10. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the service was great. We were seated in a back area that felt private. There was even a women there doing Ballon animals/figures and the kiddos got a real kick out of that. This has officially become our annual tradition. Thank you for having us!

Original Review: We ate here for the first time October 2021. It wasn't even planned. Our family was meeting another family to visit a local corn maze in town and we arrived a lot earlier then it was set to open as we didn't know any better. We took advantage of the free time snd decided it was lunch time. Drove past this place and decided we had to stop here. We are from NJ/NY and lived in the next town over from Hawthorne. We ordered fried calamari which was very tasty. The crispy Cajun shrimp which had all of our mouths watering. Their sauce for this is amazing! We ordered a Luau and Veggie pie snd those were phenomenal and my daughter couldn't stop liking her fingers after the wings. This fall we plan to also leave for the corn maze with a lot of extra time so that we can...
