The ice cream was definitely very good. The prices and servings are beyond absurd. I ordered 2 "kiddie" cones (no toppings) and one scoop in a waffle cone. The scoop was small, on top, and the entire cone was empty!!! Since when does anyone serve an ice cream cone EMPTY! And the total came to was $14.46!!! Since the 2 small comes were $7+, that meant my single tiny scoop in a tall dry, empty cone, was $7+
The people in front of me ordered a cone and a banana split and greatly objected when their total was $40!
Very good ice cream, but insanely expensive for what you get!
I should also mention that there are no prices posted. You apparently have to go around to the other side of the building (I did not) to see the prices...which I didn't want to do with 20 people waiting in...
Read moreThis was my second trip to Carolina Creamery while visiting friends in Mint Hill. I believe this is under new ownership since my last visit there. I didn’t realize it but if you use your credit card, they charge you a 3+% service fee. If I had known I would have used cash! I only noticed the sign on the window after we paid because they slide the window open while serving you, so it’s not easy to read. They didn’t give me my credit card slip to sign, so there was no extra tip for them!!! I’m not even sure they ever said “thank you” to my party of 5! My daughter ordered a small and I noticed while scooping they put it in a cup the next size up and instead of just giving it to her they dumped it and re-scooped. Any other place would have just given it to her. We will...
Read moreThis is an update. As much as I like this place, I just cannot justify returning. My wife and I stopped by this evening and were SHOCKED at our bill. My wife had 3 scoops of butter pecan in a waffle dish, I had 3 scoops of mint chip in a waffle cone with hot fudge. I asked 3 times for a sundae, but all I got was the hot fudge topping. Anyway, the bill came out to $27.50 BEFORE the tip. Yes...TWENTYSEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS. Listen, I'm all about supporting small businesses, and I know all too well what overhead costs, but $27.50 for 6 scoops of ice cream? I'm sorry, but this isn't Beverly Frigging Hills...that price is uncalled for and cannot be justified....even under Bidenomics.
Oh, it also took 15 minutes for our ice cream to be...
