Another Broken Egg is a good restaurant for breakfast but it is expensive. The servings are large for many dishes which means that they can often be split for two people to enjoy a good meal and to cut down on expenses.
On this occasion, I intended to order oatmeal. It is no longer on the menu and not available. I have eaten that dish here for a number of years but must not have been a popular option.
Instead, I ordered a pumpkin waffle which came with eggs and sausage or bacon. The waffle came with a cinnamon butter and powdered sugar. No doubt, those are good but I opted out of the butter and powdered sugar. The maple syrup and pecans on the waffle were good. While I did not get a significant taste of pumpkin in the waffle, it still tasted good and was cooked perfectly.
The sausage was spicy and not to my taste. There was nothing wrong with it; I just did not like the flavor of this particular sausage.
My dining companion ordered the Floridian omelette. It is disguised as a cream cheese-filled omelette topped with garlic butter sautéed crab meat, Jack cheese and green onions. It comes with three eggs as well as grits or potatoes. It is a large dish. She ate about half of the dish. It was good; just too much food.
The restaurant is very neat and clean and the service was very good as well. It was not crowded on the morning we ate here, in part because the heavy tourist season is now over as school has started back up.
The meal for two came to about $48 (including a gratuity) and also included coffee and tea. There are many places that are considerably less expensive for breakfast with smaller servings and a more restricted menu. Another Broken Egg is unique in its menu offerings and a more...
Read moreMy first experience at the restaurant. I was informed homemade biscuits very delicious. I was seated in no time the area I was in I felt good vibes everything started off great waitress and all. While waiting to order I noticed other waitresses were so polite very engaged assisting their customers. However, on the other hand I was very disappointed the waitress I had. After letting her know I was enjoying my time , she took forever checking on me. First after arriving in my seat she bought me a child size glass of water, who does that? Next, I kept waiting for her I had to ask another waitress for water. How about that waitress bought me a tall size adult glass of water without me asking. I waited forever, I even tried waving her down so that I can order she was going from one side to another area the next thing I saw her going on the outside for awhile I figured we’ll she’s taking a break not even checking on me beforehand. After waitress returned back inside she went to another area with a book in her hand, by the I was outdone. Unbelievably. How can you be that busy not checking on all your customers. Finally, almost 45 to an hour later she finally came to get my order. I wasn’t happy with her waiting on me. Food was good biscuit was excellent! I only gave the minimal required tip which I don’t do at all I always go up and beyond 20% or more. I wasn’t happy she only deserved just that minimal tip for the terrible minimal service I received from her. The other waitresses should have a class to show other waitresses how to engaged with a caring spirit and smile. I was hoping to give all 5 stars. Unfortunately, due to the service I received....
Read moreWe've never been to Another Broken Egg before, but it was conveniently located by our hotel so we stopped before getting on the road to head home. We arrived on a Sunday, checked in at 8:58am, told 30 min wait & received ready-text at 9:41am. Not a big deal, we'd planned for the wait and had our orders decided before being seated.
I ordered Eggs Benedict, hollandaise on the side, and fruit. My husband ordered eggs, bacon & Grits.
Food arrived 30 minutes after ordering, which is fine, we know places are short-staffed, but our breakfasts were cold. Not a great first impression.
My plate had two dry English muffin halves, barely toasted. A single thick slab of ham was laid across both, and topped with two of the smallest poached eggs I've ever seen. I tried the hollandaise sauce but it was pretty much a congealed, lemon-ish gravy, not a light, creamy sauce I was expecting. The fruit cup was mango, blackberries, watermelon and sliced strawberries. All were nicely ripe.
The other breakfast was fine, he said, "just breakfast", but pointed out that the bacon had a nice smokiness. The grits were unseasoned, the English muffin arrived also dry and barely toasted.
Our chipper server did come by to check on us, whereby I did mention our food had arrived cold. She expressed surprise and a "sorry", then came back with a coffee refill & the check.
I mean, breakfast is breakfast, but I did expect a place that specialized in it to have a little...
