What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We had reservations at 8:00 pm on 3/17 for our anniversary dinner. We were seated within 15 min. That was about the only good thing about the evening. Are server took our drink orders and main entrees. We were then served the soup and salad which were very good I ordered the Cherry Blossom cocktail which looked amazing in menu as it should have had cherry boba drops on top, but when it was brought to me it simply had a marachino cherry tossed in at the bottom. I asked the server and was told they were out of boba. No big deal, I chose not to have the drink and at this point I thought the server was fine and nice as she agreed with me. We then proceeded to wait over an hour for our chef, in which m husband had to get up and inform the manager because she had no idea. Our server would look over to our table and never touched base to see what was going on. The manager came over to apologize and said that our chef would come in a mommas he was preparing because he was at another table. When the chef arrived, he made no conversatyjust started cooking. There was absolutely NO SHOW! No, “egg” roll, No , onion volcano, No tossing shrimp tails…. The pitiful attempt of the rice heart, was not announced or anything, 2 pumps and that’s it. He was clearly distracted looking over at the table behind me the entire time! It was as if he wasn’t there with us. it was as he was just there to cook. Honestly I would have preferred for them to tell us so sorry we don’t have a chef for you. We would leave and not WASTE 2.5 hours, and pay expensively as we know Benihana costs a pretty penny. Which it’s worth if been a fine dining experience! The shrimp appetizer as all the other foods were plopped on the grill cooked all together. I personally got gypped multiple times when he gave me my serving it was the last bit, his distribution was nothing close to fair or even among the table. As for the food, the steak was under seasoned, the chicken was not fully cooked. The vegetables I can speak for the onions were just mushy.. at this point, we took a few bites, and I had to wait around for our server which never showed up. Therefore, we had to go to the front once again to get take home containers. Finally, the server came to ask for our dessert, which is ice cream order. When she finally came out to bring the ice cream she gave us takeout utensils, which is a little packet with the knife, spoon and fork. honestly this was nothing close to being a fine dining experience! I had to get up one more time and call for the manager. Everyone at her table was discussing all of this craziness happening to our table, but no one really got up so I took it upon myself to do so. the manager finally came over. I quietly explained everything that happened. She was very apologetic and adjusted everyone’s bill. It was 20% or 30%. Honestly, in my opinion, she should’ve given us a complete free meal at least a negative experience! There was a gentleman at our table that it was his birthday, they never sang happy birthday. And for us there was nothing said about our anniversary! thank you Benny very much for making our seven year anniversary....
Read moreWe are from BC Canada, so it's a treat when we get to enjoy dining at bennihannas. Feb 4th we took friends to the Miramar location. The four of us had a prebooked res. We arrived & our table would be a bit so we chose to sit at the bar for a drink. Not two min there we get called to our table. We had to settle the 3 drinks we had time to order before we got them, before we could go to our assigned table. There was 3 parties totalling 9 persons at our table. This was the 1st time we were sat with a person with a food allergy (shrimp). We didn't know what to expect... Chef cooked all veggies first, plated them. Cooked all rice and plated the allergy persons theirs. Cooked their steaks, chicken & plated theirs. There whole meal was served hot. Added shrimp to rest of the rice, plated ours + others. So now we have cold veggies & our stir fried rice is getting cold. Chef cooks up the sides of shrimp. Plates them. Then our steaks. Cooks chops into bit size pieces and plates. By the time we get our meals the steak is the only thing hot. This was our friends 1st Beni experience. It was our treat for them. Chef was in a hurry to get to the next table so his culinary art show was lacking to say the least. The waiter asked us just 5 min into eating if we wanted to go containers & ice cream, we said not yet & asked for another drink. I mean the couple were done eating, other party half done, and we're just starting on our cold dinner. Just not the dining experience you come to expect spending this much at benihanas... We love the Orlando benihanas and will be in that area later this month. Questioning go again... If we go I will be sure to ask that we are not sat with any allergies. No offense to the person with the allergy , but benihanas needs to come up with a different protocol to accommodate and make sure EVERYONE gets a hot meal, entertaining presentation, and not feel rushed to leave!!!! Very disappointed.
I recently came home from out of town and decided to celebrate my birthday, my daughter’s birthday, and my sister’s birthday together at Benihana. My daughter and sister share a birthday on January 17th, while mine is on January 20th. I made a reservation for a party of 14 to make it a special occasion.
Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. From the moment we arrived, we weren’t greeted with a welcoming attitude. I informed the hostess that we were celebrating three birthdays and asked if we could use our birthday certificates. I was told they couldn’t honor them because the certificates had to be redeemed on specific days. I asked if an exception could be made, but the manager insisted they couldn’t because they needed to scan the certificates. I felt they could have accommodated us, especially since we were a large party, but they simply didn’t seem willing to make an exception.
The service was also disappointing. Our server wasn’t attentive, the food wasn’t great, and the drinks took forever to arrive. Since our group was split between two tables, the service was uneven. One table received their drinks and appetizers first, while the other had to wait much longer. One table even had their food prepared before the other. The disorganization was frustrating and added to the overall poor experience.
To make matters worse, the bathrooms were out of soap and paper towels, yet employees were hanging out in there on their phones. When it came time to cut our cake (which we brought ourselves), the staff rushed us to sing “Happy Birthday” and implied they were too busy to give us proper attention.
I’ve been a loyal Benihana customer for years, and this was by far my worst experience. I live in Washington State, where there isn’t a Benihana, so I specifically chose to visit this location while in Florida. I informed the manager of all the issues we encountered, but his only response was to apologize and offer appetizer cards for a future visit. I felt this was insufficient, given the poor service and lack of effort to make our celebration enjoyable.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed. A celebration that should have been special ended up feeling rushed and poorly handled. I hope Benihana takes this feedback seriously to improve their service for...
