If you are tired of the plain old American breakfast I recommend you try broken yolk cafe. The reason I recommend Broken Yolk Cafe is that me and my mom have been going there since I was ten so about six years now. Broken Yolk Cafe was first opened in a local beach community in Pacific Beach California starting as a humble restaurant inviting all beach goers in. This restaurant has been open since 1979 meaning that Broken Yolk cafe has been doing the right thing to bring in customers. This review is based on Broken Yolk located in Mission Viejo on Marguerite PKWY right next to the Pango Drink Station juice bar. Upon arriving you can expect to see a big parking lot with barely any spaces left. Before entering depending on the time you get there you can expect a line to get seated. When entering you will see the big bar that Broken Yolk offers to its customers and a frame with all the people that have beaten their Iron Man omelet challenge. When seated you will be able to smell the hot, tangy Tabasco sauce most people put on their food, the sweetness of the syrup on people's soft buttermilk pancakes, and the warm dark, rich-smelling coffee being served. The typical customer at Broken Yolk Cafe would be someone with a big family and anyone wanting a better breakfast than Danny´s. The ambiance of Broken Yolk Cafe is casual but can get crowded at times but the service is fast and done right. I have gone to Broken Yolk cafe and have always had the best experience that's why I believe Broken Yolk is the best breakfast restaurant. Broken Yolk is the best place to eat breakfast because of the food, the food type is classic American breakfast and Mexican breakfast. The reason why someone would choose Broken Yolk Cafe over any other place is the variety that Broken Yolk serves it´s also near a mall and many shops so when done with breakfast you can shop and enjoy the day at the mall. Mexican food interests most people to come and try the food because no other place serves Mexican dishes. What Mexican Broken Yolk Cafe is the challenge they offer to their customers. People who partake in this challenge have an hour to finish a half dozen eggs omelet filled with mushrooms, onions, American cheese, smothered in chili, and more cheese plus a generous amount of home fries and two biscuits with no help. The reason the food is so special from others is how fresh everything tastes some places you can tell the food was poorly made on the other hand Broken Yolk Cafe has a very authentic taste like it was made by a person who has experience in the kitchen. Three of there best dishes that I have tried are the soft crunchy tiki toast Hawaiian bread toasted with sweet sticky syrup and powdered sugar costing 15.70. Another dish is the ranchero skillet which has spice, oily, chorizo with the softest potatoes, cheese, an egg, green avocado, and caliente ranchero sauce costing 14.94. Another dish is huevos con chorizo with soft rice and two scrambled eggs a typical Mexican dish costing 16.45. I believe that Broken Yolk is the best place to try some Mexican breakfast. Broken Yolk Cafe is fit for everyone from young to old and for people of different cultures and just want something new to try. Life Begins After Breakfast at Broken Yolk Cafe...
Read more3/21/2025 Stopped by for breakfast at the Broken Yoke, a great spot. Carolina was our amazing server and she is always a blessing. My wife had eaten breakfast earlier but accompanied me and had some fruit. I had the no name omelet with 2 sausage links and tomato slices. Benito brought out the food and this guy is simply amazing. He manages the kitchen, ensures quality control and visits the customers while delivering meals. The food, service and people are amazing 👏. The ambiance is always positive and upbeat. Highly recommended 10/4/2024 Had a fantastic breakfast this morning at Broken Yolk in Mission Viejo. Sandra was my kind and extraordinary server. Very efficient and professional. The restaurant is clean, the staff are pleasant and welcoming and the food delicious. I ordered the chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, sourdough toast, OJ and yes of course a coffee. The food was delivered hot and tasty and the coffee and OJ perfect. Sandra was a gem and I appreciate a good breakfast at a consistently good Cafe or Diner. Highly recommended

Read moreI don't really like leaving negative reviews, however, for the price I paid for 2 meals, I really feel like I didn't get anywhere NEAR my money's worth! I ordered the food on-line which was very easy and when I got to the restaurant I only had to wait a few minutes, that's why I gave 2 stars. I live about 6 miles from the place (12 miles round trip), which for an almost 70 year old lady is kind of far. My husband and I were in the mood for pancakes & eggs so I thought I'd try this place. When I got home and opened up the container of blueberry pancakes 2 of the 3 were burned on one side, which didn't taste very good, and there were hardly any blueberries. I'll blame the restaurant for that one. The other dish I got was the regular eggs benedict with Canadian bacon and home fried potatoes. By the time I got home the eggs were hard cooked, no runny yolks like I wanted. I blame myself for that because it's a 15 minute drive home. Also the Canadian bacon seemed not cooked at all, the English muffin was not even toasted, most of the home fried potatoes were burnt, and the sauce tasted like they put hot sauce in it. It cost almost $17 for the eggs! Do not get eggs Benedict to-go at this restaurant. Our total bill was $34 which included a %15 tip. We have gotten better breakfasts at McDonald's. I won't be going back there...
