Slice Shabu — Restaurant in Mission Viejo

The service was pretty bad. They did not have enough people (only 2) working that night so they had us wait 45 minutes on a Thursday night just because they didn't have enough staff. There were plenty of tables available. When we sat down there were no spices or utensils(clamps, ladels, films) there for us and when I asked only utensils were brought and we missed out on a lot of the great flavoring that comes with shabu shabu. The lady taking our order was extremely rude and said that we couldn't have certain things on the menu together giving us no reason. For example we wanted two combo boxes and she said we could only have one for no reason. After finishing our meats we wanted more since we realized their small portions of meat were not enough and when we asked for more she said sorry our kitchen is closed. I received no heads up that the kitchen would be closing and that if we wanted more meat we should get some soon. In traditional shabu shabu the tab is open and you order more meat when you want it. I felt pretty cheated when she said that and I really hope they can give me a heads...

This place is in a mall that is lifeless. It is also hard to find due to it being in the back of a gentrified marketplace that will forsure be gone in the future. The service was not good. It was 2 servers for a small resturant which does make sense if they were competent and attentive. The food was very mid, and the only good thing was the 2 slices of high quality meat you are given for $40. Literally for sides they give 2 broccoli, one carrot slice, 1 onion slice, 2 sweet potatoes slices, and 2 sauces to choose from. I originally was going to post a 1 star because of confusion regarding their closing time. That quickly changed to a 5 when the service was corrected. They went out of their way to let me know they were wrong and the business was still open. Management is in your interest. They care about service and your needs. This ladies and gentlemen is the best spot for shabu shabu. Visit this place and enjoy. Steven and Stacy made the experience far better than expected. They care. They had empathy and showed compassion. Made a birthday experience better than ever. Thank you for the hospitality for a regular loyal customer. I will continue to enjoy your food and service.
