I’ve hosted birthday parties at both SkyZone and LaserLand, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend LaserLand at this time. There are several issues that management urgently needs to address to make this a better experience. The kids ended up having lots of fun, but it was more frustrating for me as a parent and more expensive than SkyZone, without any added perks.
Disorganized
We were told the kids would have 30 minutes of arcade time, but when we arrived on time, the staff was still cleaning up from a previous party. By the time they handed out the arcade cards, we had only about 15 minutes left before laser tag hour — and they didn’t even have enough cards for all the kids!
Insufficient Arcade Time
Because of the delay and shortage of cards, the kids had to share cards, arguing and running between each other, which made things chaotic. Several arcade games were also not working, which added to the frustration.
It was over $1000 for my 24 party guests and that equates to $13 a minute for 90 minutes of play time. So being cut short 15 minutes of arcade time is literally worth $200!!
On top of all that, I was given no additional time back at the end. Therefore, I had to spend even more money to get some extra arcade time. But I would swipe the trampoline game and then it wouldn’t work so I would swipe again and it would deduct money and still not work!! Finally the guy came over and programmed it to play but again beyond frustrating.
Not Enough Working Laser Tag Vests
Some kids couldn’t even play because there weren’t enough working vests — which is unacceptable given that laser tag is the entire point of being there. While I did have a several last-minute RSVPs, no one told me I needed to confirm updated numbers. The staff explained that some vests had been sent to another location, which seems like poor planning for a booked party. I wish they had contacted me before if they needed to know exact numbers or plan to have a lower number of vests.
Lack of Management Presence
Only a few staff members were there, and the main person was still in training. He was kind and apologetic, but said he couldn’t address my concerns because he informed me management would have to address those points. Employees should be empowered to make reasonable adjustments — like offering extra arcade time or additional cards — when things go wrong.
SkyZone Comparison
SkyZone was actually less expensive, and their package included thoughtful perks like a water bottle and a free return pass for each guest. Small details like that make a big difference in the overall experience.
The Positives
To be fair, the kids had a great time overall, and the staff on-site were genuinely kind and tried their best to make up for the issues. They did allow us some extra time in the arcade before the next party — though I had to buy additional cards so the kids could actually play. The venue itself was fun, and we had it mostly to ourselves between parties.
Still, as a parent, I found the whole experience frustrating and disappointing. The kids were bummed about the short arcade time, though they did enjoy simple moments at the end — jumping on the trampoline and playing air hockey, even without the trampoline interactive game and hockey air, since that required more money on the card. Each game is $2 to $3 dollars so in five minutes I spent an extra $20 in 5 minutes and gave up!
Bottom line: LaserLand has potential, but it needs better organization, equipment readiness, and empowered staff to justify the high cost. Until then, I’d stick with SkyZone or another venue that offers smoother, more reliable party...
Read moreMy husband and I were celebrating our 8th anniversary. We saw a movie and ended up walking around the Kaleidoscope. Now, here's where it gets unimaginably impressive: when my husband "went to the restroom," it turns out he ran next door to LaserLand to see if the associate working the desk would be able to set up something for our special day. After some quick planning, the associate, Dragean, said he could set up my favorite song to play when the game starts, along with some other songs that we like. Now, he told my husband this is not something he ever does, but because there was nothing going on and because we have been together for so long, he would do it only this once. My husband says thanks a million and runs back. All this happened in under 7 minutes.
So, after the movie, we go to LaserLand and buy the hour, do the waiver, and get briefed on how to play. We walked into the fog-filled arena, and my mind was blown. Not only is this place massive, but my music was playing! My husband kicked my butt at laser tag, but it was fun. He tried to get Dragean to join in, but he was the only employee working that day. So he said if he were to join in, it would only be for one game, and he would have to run out every minute to check the front. We said okay, and he joined in on our last game: my husband versus Dragean and me, so we won, of course. Thanks for an experience I won't forget, LaserLand! I am now planning my son's birthday party to happen here. Dragean even walked us through how to do that. Such a helpful employee! I can't believe he's not a manager! We are definitely coming back in the near future. This place deserves a 5-star rating, and Dragean needs...
Read moreThis is a sad replacement for Laserquest. We frequented Laserquest for years. The pandemic saw the entire North American division close.
When Laser Land came in, we were excited to see a new business take over. What a sad sad excuse for a laser tag place.
Disorganized doesn’t begin to explain this place. They take roughly 3x longer to run a game than Laserquest. This isn’t because of additional play time, it’s due to overworked, under trained staff who can’t get groups briefed on the rules and into a game. I literally saw games going once every 45 minutes on a busy weekend. Laserquest had them every 15 minutes on the dot.
We decided to have a birthday party there, but their party packages are expensive and not worth what you get. So we asked if we could just show up and play. We were told yes. The manager kept calling to schedule the party we declined to book…up until the day before our event. When I called to remind him, he said that he “couldn’t fit us into a party this weekend, but he was following up for future dates” ….uhhh…ok. Sure. They did in fact have an empty party room that we could have taken (thank god we didn’t).
Because we came in buying individual games, they put us as LOW PRIORITY. Meaning we would wait close to 3 hours to play 2 games. The staff let us know that the birthday parties took priority over those who came in and ALREADY PAID.
Again, 30-45 minutes per 10 minute round… I could literally have this place running better in a few days having never run a laser tag...
