We were in the area so we popped in for a late lunch so, not very busy. The parking lot is very busy as it serves many retail spots and the parking spots are narrow. Initial reaction was very positive. Very clean, wide open view, nice matching heavy wood furniture, great artwork, nice bar and several TV's. Service was very good. Attentive and eager to provide a positive experience. Slight language barrier with server but we worked through it. The food was so-so. The chips were of the thicker variety (not our favorite) and the regular salsa was a bit bland. I asked for their spicy version and found the heat perfect (I've toned down my need for hot heat as I've gotten older so some may still find it is not hot enough) but it also has a bit too much smoke flavor. The main dish we shared was a 2 burrito plate that consisted of a shredded chicken burrito and beef/bean burrito. We added white cheese sauce over the top instead of the standard red sauce (that was an undisclosed upcharge of $2.50). We asked if we could have red on one and white sauce on the other and the server indicated that the chefs can't/don't do that. No biggie. BTW, they can't/won't put one burrito on one plate and the other burrito on a different plate either. Again, no biggie. But I will say, for the restaurants that do this as a service/convenience do not go unappreciated! The chicken in the burrito was very bland and seems as though no seasoning was used. Same for the beef burrito. It seems like they are relying on the toppings (cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato and sour cream) to fill out the flavor profile for the dish. Give us some authentic flavor please. Lastly, the flour tortillas were weirdly chewy. Hard to cut through and hard to chew. Campesino is what I would catoragize as a next level Mexican restaurant compared to your run of the mill Mexican joints. The atmosphere is nicer, the appointments are nicer, presentation of food MIGHT be nicer, etc. However, prices are higher than run of the mill joints. I feel like you're paying for the atmosphere but getting the same or lessor...
Read moreWe recently moved to the neighborhood, saw positive reviews and decided to give it a try. After going there for dinner tonight, it is hard for me to believe the rave reviews are authentic. The people who work there were very nice. I do hate to write a negative review. I had the bowl and my daughter had the fajitas. The food had no flavor. The pico could hardly be seen in my bowl, as well as the beans and rice. I could not help but wonder about the nature of the chicken. It was served in a good size portion, but the pieces were in an almost uniform spiral -like shape. No flavor. The salsa was watery and without flavor, like everything else. It took 15 minutes before we were waited on after seating. I wonder how long it may have taken had we not mentioned to the hostess. The food came out quickly after the order but my ordered drink was forgotten. . The space has some appealing features but the lighting is overly harsh. We left 2/3 of our meal behind and left after 15 minutes. They were busy. I wish them well but we...
Read moreThe atmosphere is ok although the lighting could be a little dimmer. The space is too open and bright to feel comfortable. The staff are polite enough. But a couple of the waiters just seemed depressed to be there. There were a few oversights like forgetting part of a kid’s order and not bringing water after we asked. An issue with this place is that there are some dubious food/flavor/authenticity choices being made. The horchata had a sickly artificial flavor. The mango juice was not juice. The salsa is a very thin puree. The chips are also kind of off (too thick?) The grilled shrimp side was really good! The fiesta salad tasted good, but the presentation was terrible. If you are going to put a picture of the dish in the menu, it would be less jarring to have the dish look like the picture. Maybe I would go there for drinks and watching sports, not sure. Maybe this place is just so new it hasn’t hit its stride, but I hope the flavors and the...
