Some of the best Mexican food I've had. It may not be the most authentic, but I think it blends the best of Mexican & Tex-Mex to create something truly remarkable. And some of it is just delightfully decadent pub grub, like the asada fries.
Estrella Azul has long been one of my favorite food trucks in the area, and it's always a treat to be able to dine in and enjoy an expanded menu.
The salsas are "real hot" and "I have regrets" so take it easy if you're not craving heat. I highly recommend any of the tacos... The puffy tacos are superb and all of the meats are quite good.
They have quite a selection of beverages, including bottled soft drinks like Jarritos and Coke, but also several bottled varieties of beer (I usually get Modelo Negra).
Atmosphere is festive but sparse. It is super casual... Real plates but plastic forks, fluorescent lights. You come here because the food is good, not for the candle light ambiance.
Tip: The restaurant is only open occasionally in the spring, summer, and fall... since the owner still operates the food truck and can't be in two places at once. So keep an eye on their Facebook page or check Menufy or Doordash to see if they're taking orders. The food here is good enough that it's worth a little overhead to find the right time to visit.
Keep an eye out for food truck dates as well - they're frequently at local breweries. Hard to beat...
Read moreMy wife, our 3 children all under 5 and I went to have dinner at this place a few days ago to try out a new place we have never been and we were not disappointed!! I got there asada street tacos (delicious) my wife got the asada cheese fries (even more delicious) we got a kids taco plate and kids cheese quesadilla, they were so nice and let us change out the rice and beans for French fries on the kids plates. We didn’t get the 1 year old a meal in plans of just letting him eat off ours. It was very good when the food showed up, then the very nice woman working brought us an extra plate with some rice, fries and meat for the 1 year old, just out of the goodness of her heart! So nice of her! As we were finishing up our meals the very nice woman approached us and offered us some free churros for the kids, they were very delicious as well! This was far above and beyond in my book as the place was steadily busy the whole time we were there, but she was always friendly and constantly checking on everyone to see if they needed anything. She made our first experience a memorable one by being super nice and friendly! We will be returning to this place...
Read moreOverall, pretty good experience. I ordered the lunch special, chicken quesadilla with rice and beans. After tax and tip it was 10 bucks even.
Overall the food was pretty good! Quesadilla was nice and crisp and the chicken was flavorful. Rice was solid, but beans were a little under seasoned.
The only problem I had was with the wait: it took about 20 minutes for me to get my food (I was by myself ) and there were 3 others waiting in the restaurant. Just seemed a bit slow for a lunch rush service at a Mexican joint.
Also if I'm nitpicking, the place seemed kinda bare? Like if that is what your going for, great, but the place felt large and a bit empty, maybe get some more tables or more decor or something.
Solid place though, we...
