I visited this bakery five times and each time time something went wrong. I just kept giving them another shot bc I know it's a local bakery and people make mistakes but the experience never got better. The first visit over a year ago I ordered a 16oz iced mocha and the guy added steamed milk on top of the ice so as you can imagine the ice melted and I got a watery mess. I was on my way to work so I couldn't stay for a remake. The next time I arrived around 7:10am and there were no baked goods behind the glass. They opened at 7am so I asked if they had any baked goods and a different person responded that since they had just opened they weren't prepared with the baked goods yet (what?). So a cart was rolled out and I picked a throwing star. It tasted like flaky cardboard with no flavor. Waste of money. The next time was just a couple weeks ago and I went for the gluten free peanut butter cookies, which looked great. I am not kidding when I say these are the worst gluten free cookies I ever tasted. They are made of chickpea flour and taste nothing like a peanut butter cookie. I've never thrown away cookies before but I couldn't get them down. So I went back in to get a molasses cookie and there was a couple inside asking for a savory croissant, but they didn't have any. So they asked for a cronut or crumpet or something and the lady replied that the bakery only makes those on Fridays and Saturdays. So they just left disappointed and didn't buy anything. So then I pull in on Monday Oct 18th and there is a sign up saying they changed to "winter hours", which means they are closed on Mondays. Let's not even mention that winter is not in October. Didn't bother to change the hours on their website. I mean how many chances do you give a business before you give up. I really can't believe the five star reviews bc of what I...
Read moreI had some time to kill before a doctor appointment so I decided to give Morning Birds a try.
The staff there was nice, and they got my order right. Speed of service was a little slow considering how quiet it was, but certainly reasonable.
I decided to order the vegetarian quiche and a latte. I'm not sure what beans they use for their espresso, but I wasn't a fan - it was a little low on flavor. Next time I may ask for an extra shot and see if that's more to my liking. Espresso taste varies widely and one man's trash is another man's treasure, so I really can't hold it against them if it wasn't quite my flavor.
The quiche, however, is another story. It was quite dry and lacked flavor, as if it was overcooked and there wasn't any seasoning at all used in the preparation.
I've read great things about their bakery products, so maybe quiche just isn't their thing. I'll try them again in the future and stick with their more traditional baked goods and update my review at that time.
I'm a fan of supporting local small businesses, so I'll definitely give them another go in the...
Read moreWithout fail. Every time I go in for a single simple bagel with cream cheese, they either neglect to toast it like I ask or cut it in half like every other normal bagel store across the country does even when I ask they don't do it. And um, I usually am sitting there with waiting on one lonesome employee to slowly get their way through 1 customer before me. And they never get out of there inside of 10 minutes today. I waited for ten minutes with one customer ahead of me when I walked in and walked out. I don't think it's unrealistic to think you should be able to get in and out of a bagel store in ten minutes with one bagel. And this was literally at 1 PM where they should have been prepared for people to come in and give lunch orders. I don't even know what would happen if a few people walked in for lunch. Even though she definitely didn't move with much sense of urgency, I don't really blame the gal up front, but why would there be nobody in the back to help out when you've got customers?I'm...
