On the Missoula events page was posted that they had tours for ALL AGES starting at 11. I brought my 2 year old daughter. We were there for all of 5 min when an employee came to us and said “I hear a lot of energy, maybe we can use that energy to make art.” My daughter was moving pretty quickly around the museum however she was silent, the loudest thing about her was her feet hitting the ground. She was not interested in coloring so we left. On the way out the staff recommended the butter fly museum to “get out her energy” again she was not yelling or screaming she was just walking loudly she did not touch or run into any art, her behavior was great. I would like to add she was very much enjoying the art, she was stopping at pieces to admire them and whispering “wow” but needless to say we felt unwelcome. There's always something unique and unusual on display, and although the artists usually aren't world famous they're certainly well-respected and usually very important to the area.

I can see how this museum wouldn't be for everyone, but I loved it. The indigenous art in the permanent collection is excellent (and, as another commenter who wasn't so positive explained: some of it is displayed by the restrooms - check it out!).
