FYI this business will charge you a fee (.65 in my case) if you use a credit or debit card. I understand as a business they get charged for accepting credit cards and they are putting this cost back on the customer because the customer is choosing to pay with a credit card. However, they are not being transparent about this at all. And after I recognized I got charged for using my credit card I looked around for signage by the till and front entry-way that would indicate this and found none. All I saw was the typical sticker on the entry-way door that indicates what credit cards they will accept. Businesses like this that don't want to pay the fees associated with accepting credit cards then 1. shouldn't accept credit or debit cards as payment and just accept cash and be VERY UPFRONT ABOUT THAT or 2. Accept credit cards but be very clear that they charge a fee. Businesses like this won't do that because the truth is they will lose business doing that or being a cash only place. As the saying goes you can't have your cake and eat it too. Bottomline is there are a lot of other eating places in Missoula that have just as good of service, food and prices that won't charge you for paying with a credit or debit card or if they do, they will be very transparent about it. Again, nothing special about Ruby's when it comes to the food and service, etc compared to other places in town, but not being transparent about a credit card fee is 1 star...
Read moreAmazing diner. The service is amazing. The wait staff were all very friendly and attentive. The food, spot on. Both of our main dishes were very good. What I want to highlight is the biscuits and gravy. I will order biscuits and sausage gravy at any restaurant no matter the time of day or whatever my main dish is. I am compelled to try it no matter what. To this I say " Well done Ruby's". I grew up with biscuits and gravy on a dairy farm made from scratch by my grandma and there are only a few people in this world that can compete with her. Today I found only the second restaurant in all my travels that I would say serves a good "biscuits and gravy". It's about a good hearty but fluffy biscuit, along with an excellent flavored sausage gravy that is not just a white gravy that had some sausage added. This gravy had actual flavor like it was intentional to blend and merry the flavor of the sausage into the gravy not added as an afterthought just so you can call it "sausage gravy". I applaud you. Well done Ruby's. We also had the coconut cream pie and wow, out of the park! The crust, unbelievable, the cream filling had amazing...
Read moreI'm not sure how to rate this, because I haven't stopped there in years, but I recommended this place to a friend. It was 5 stars when I ate there last, so I'm carrying it forward. I'm a cross-country truck driver, and used to run a lot through this region, and this is somewhere I tried to stop, if I had the extra time in my run. I would park my semi on the street, across from the Post Office, and the food was really good. I originally found this place by accident. The friend I recommended this place to said that it was so busy and crowded there, he couldn't park his truck there, or even anywhere near there. I asked him if something was going on in the area, and he said, "No, it looked like everybody was just going to Ruby's Cafe." I'm guessing it got really popular since the last time I was through there. I'm...
