We ate here a couple years ago and remember enjoying it, so I ordered take out when in town again. Unfortunately, we likely won't return next time we're in town.
We ordered one picadillo enchilada with beans and rice. My husband returned to the hotel with two enchiladas. The way it was packaged, he couldn't really verify the contents without making a mess. It wasn't in a secure package, so there was a rubber band around the food and then it was placed in a random cardboard box. Beans had spilled out the sides. They also gave us chips and salsa, which we didn't ask for (or really eat to be honest). My husband admittedly didn't pay attention to the total. It should have cost around $10 but it was $17 (likely due to the extra enchilada we didn't order). Not happy about that!
Also, the picadillo here isn't shredded beef. It's beef and pork, which isn't a huge deal but the large glob of fat in the middle wasn't pleasant to bite into. The beans were a super runny texture and oddly peppery as well.
The rice was good! I should have just ordered a side of rice and nothing else. I really enjoy Mexican food and had been looking forward to this all week, but it was really disappointing. The rest of my family ordered a pizza for $10. I should have just shared...
Read moreNormally we have a wonderful experience here. However, today their technology was down for a time. That's fine, it happens, I was okay with waiting. Then we come to find out that our To Go order wasn't even put in to the cooks, they asked if I'd like to wait longer to have it made. Yes, no problem. Then awhile later we find out that our order was given to another waiting party for a to go order. The waitress told me to go in the parking lot to see if the other lady is still there to track her down. Needless to say, she was gone. The waitress told me we'd get a refund. I advised her that I hadn't yet paid but still wanted the 2 quesadillas that I ordered. They made them, and an hour and a half later, finally got our food, but no refund. They took $4 off the bill and refused to do anymore. Not the service I would come to expect from this...
Read moreGuys!!! There is a reason people drive from Sioux Falls to eat here. The food is absolutely amazing. Two of us split a Tres Amigos platter for $27 that we ordered for take out. It came with 6 flour tortillas that were soft and fresh, a bag of chips, a small cup of salsa, beans and rice. All were decent sized portions. The Chilli Colorado was flavorful with perfectly cooked tender chunks of beef. The Chilli Verde also featured those same perfectly cooked chunks of beef smothered in a beautiful Verde sauce and the Chilli relleno was as good as it gets. We are stuffed and we have plenty left over to enjoy it again later. If you are passing by Mitchell on the interstate looking for take out. Skip the expensive fast food, order ahead online on their website, and thank me later. 5 stars...
