On February 7, 2024 at 1:13 PM my sister , brother in law and myself entered Popeyes Louisiana kitchen store number 2073 at 5413 Highway 90 W. Mobile Alabama our cashier at the time was Arlecia. My sister ordered the chicken sandwich . Next I stepped up to order the popcorn shrimp, I was told they didn’t have any. At that point I had to rethink my lunch choice. I decided on the chicken sandwich, I was unable to understand our cashier , her replay was what did you say? She didn’t understand me, so I repeated my order however speaking slower. As I understood her to say what size, after repeating the same question to me 3 times, I’m frustrated , my sister steps up to help me , you see I’m a cancer patient and it’s very hard to understand what the cashier was asking, it was VERY EMBARRASSING , She spoke soooo fast I could NOT separate her words to understand. It’s a side effect of chemo and frustration on my part. If anything, im handicapped and the cashier could of been more understanding.. Once my sister explained what she was asking for , what side.. I profusely apologized, only for her to stare at me in disgust.. she was impatient, she was rude, she just wanted me to move on as she rolled her eyes.. my brother in law places his order and pays. Our food did not come all at the same time, one of the employees brought out 2 bags, part of our order. My brother in law walked back up to the counter, showed Arlecia our receipt which shows we did pay for 2 sandwiches, and chicken strips. He comes back to the table, with no chicken sandwich. By this time, our red beans an rice were eaten, still no sandwich. As I approached the cashier, I waited as the employees were busy placing orders on top of the counter for pick up and drive thru. I was NEVER asked if I needed help, nobody could of been bother!! I do believe the shift manager was putting out mashed potato’s or beans right in front of me , and he didn’t acknowledge me either??? What kind of customer service is this???Arlecia went behind the prep counter and stood there. After time passed I kept waiting still nobody acknowledged me. By this time , Arlecia turned around and walked over to a doorway and stood there, just enough not to be seen. She finally came out, grabbed the prepared bags handing them to other customers, never once acknowledging me standing there, finally I walked up to the counter and asked had they lost my sandwich! She looked at the receipt, never said a word. Turned around looked inside the last bag and Guess what? It’s my chicken sandwich.she put on the service counter in front me and walked off. I returned to our table, everybody else had finished their meal. As I took the sandwich out of the bag, I was so disgusted first and foremost it was COLD, it had been sitting there for so long,2, it appeared to have been thrown in the bag. I put the chicken sandwich back in the bag and went home. During this whole encounter, not one employee talked to one another, as we were leaving, they all started laughing super loud. This was a terrible experience!!! I’m handicapped , I was embarrassed publicly!!! Would I return here to...
Read moreThis was hands down one of the worst fast-food experiences I’ve ever had—and trust me, it takes a lot for me to say that. I don’t like leaving bad reviews. I’m the type of person who usually brushes things off, gives places the benefit of the doubt, and hopes the next time will be better. And for years, I’ve done exactly that with Popeyes. I’ve been a loyal customer, coming back time and time again because I love the food and wanted to believe the experience would improve. But this time? Enough is enough.
I went through the drive-thru, tired from a long day and just wanting to grab dinner for my family. Instead, I sat there for well OVER 30 minutes waiting for my order, watching car after car pull away as the line barely moved. Not once did anyone come to the window to apologize for the delay or offer an update. No acknowledgment. No courtesy. It felt like my time didn’t matter at all.
When I finally got my food, I felt my heart sink. The bag was a mess—soggy and falling apart from sauces and juices leaking everywhere. By the time I got it home, everything inside was cold, soggy, and unappetizing. I wanted to set the food on the table and enjoy a meal with my family, but instead, I was cleaning up a greasy mess in my car and trying to shake off how irritated and let down I felt.
What hit me the most wasn’t just the sloppy food or the long wait—it was the complete lack of basic kindness. Not a smile. Not a “thank you.” Not even the smallest sign that the staff cared about the people they were serving. I’ve worked in customer service before, and I know how tough it can be. But there’s no excuse for treating customers like they’re invisible.
Popeyes says “Love That Chicken from Popeyes.” But after this experience, can you love that chicken from Popeyes if the service is crappy?
I’ve stayed loyal for years because I truly enjoy the food, but loyalty only goes so far. When a place repeatedly shows that they don’t value their customers, it’s hard to keep giving them chance after chance. This isn’t just about one bad night—it’s a pattern, and if this is the standard Popeyes is willing to accept, they shouldn’t be surprised when even their most patient customers finally stop...
Read moreChicken was mediocre. The place was out of white meat. I was fine replacing it with dark meat because I didn't want to wait 15-20minutes. It is fast food of course. I would have given it a higher star but the lack of effort ruined it for me. Would probably never go back to any Popeyes based on this experience:
The reason I go to Popeyes is for the mash potatoes and Cajun gravy. It is the ONLY reason I choose Popeyes over KFC and churches. So I ask for mash potatoes and EXTRA gravy, it was the family size so it was in the bigger container. Didn't think I was asking for anything over the top. But I was told "no it only comes one way, cannot add any more gravy." I was tired from the beach so didn't make a big deal of it. Figured the container was full so can't add any more.
I come and there is at least an inch of air space on top of the potatoes. The amount of gravy they gave me was minuscule at most. I didn't even eat half of the potatoes yet and it was already dry and Barron of gravy. I should have just paid less and gotten the smaller size. Or I should have just went to KFC. Just a tiny bit of effort to scoop 2-3 spoons of gravy for me would have made my day, I mean there was plenty of space. Or learn how to upsell and charge me for the gravy. I went out of my way to go there so I would have paid extra for the gravy.
Please Popeyes corporate... teach them to upsell or just give a 5 second effort to simply scoop an extra spoon of gravy. ... going throw this bottom half of this mash potatoes away... too...
