Stopped at Huddle House for lunch today. The building is reminiscent of an old style diner where you have both booths and a counter where you can see some of the cooking going on behind the counter. The place was busy but clean for being so busy. Not run down and unkept. We actually arrived closer to 1:00 instead of 12:00. So the main lunch rush had just cleared out and every table still hadnt been cleared. But they were working on it as fast as they could. But everyone was busy and so freindly. That no one cared. They got a table cleared for us really fast.
The service was top of the line. Our waitress's was excellent. Super Friendly, she checked back with us to make sure we had whatever we needed frequently but not so much as to be a nusiance. She made us actually feel welcome. She took our order without writing it down and the food was spot on what we ordered when it came out. She apologized for it taking long to get the food out. But it actually didn't take long at all. It was faster than any fast food joint as far as I'm concerned. She had a great attitude. In fact I think it should be mandatory training for all waitress's to come train under her before being let on the floor. Her service was so good that as I went up to pay out the guy in front of me paying his bill she messed up his order. Well I should say she took responsibility for his order being messed up. I'm not so sure it was her fault at all but she took ownership of her responsibility. But the guy paid his bill and apparently her customer service is so above par the guy gave her a big cash tip even though his order wasn't what he ordered. He complimented her on her service and professional attitude. Now that's customer service as it should be. I would give her 10 star service if that's a thing.
Now to the food. The quality is above good. I give it a 4.5 out of 5. It is way better than fast food . But it's not a fancy high priced restaurant so don't expect that. It is a dinner. It's where the quality of food should be at a dinner. Not fancy but not the greasy spoon gross type of slop you often find a such dinner's. I had the chopped steak. Basically a hamburger patty with brown gravy and mushrooms, green beans, and mashed potatoes. It was cooked properly. Green beans were just right. They were not from a hot pot that had set there for hours making them old and mushy. The potatoes appears and tasted real instead of the watery made from dried flaked potato from a box stuff. There was substance to them unlike dehydrated potato flakes. Every thing had good flavors and was enjoyable to eat. The portion sizes were just right for the price. Not so little that you still want more of something when done. But not so large that you're going to need a doggie bag. You can clean your plate and not be still hungry but not over full at the same time.
Prices averaged around +/- $8.00 to $10.00 per plate. 5 of us ate and the bill was around $50+. But because of the servers great above average quality I left as big a tip as I could. She deserved a good tip.
They have many types of breakfast plates which is the majority of the menu. But they also have dinner dishes like burgers, steak, chopped steak, chicken strips, etc.
I do recommend this place as a good stop for breakfast,...
Read moreTHE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD I went today at around 12:30 with my fiancé and two other family members and received the worst service I have ever experienced. First we sat down at a booth that was not clean, like the rest of the tables in the building, and she sprayed the table, splashing cleaner on us. She then took our drink order and took 10 minutes to bring them to us. There were two tables that were finished eating and one new table that came in after we did, so the waitress wasn’t super busy. When the coffees were brought, no sugar or creamer was brought with it and she didn’t ask us if we needed any. Once she finished bringing some of the drinks, we had to remind her that there was additional drinks that she forgot. Next, we ordered. My Uncle wanted the meal that came with three eggs, bacon, sausage, and biscuits and an additional 2 pancakes. Stephanie suggested the pancake meal with an additional egg instead. It took 45 minutes to receive our order. During the tome we were waiting, we saw Stephanie twice. One of those times we had to wave her down and ask for refills in the coffee. Again, once she brought the coffee she did not ask about sugar and cream. Once we finally received our food, the meal that was suggested for my Uncle was missing the bacon, biscuit, and the additional egg that she insisted on getting. We checked the menu and the one she suggested did not include what the original meal did. We were missing the grits on one meal, the toast on another, and a glass of milk that was asked for when ordering the food. The loaded biscuit meal that I ordered was cold, as if it was sitting for 10 minutes before it was served. Once we brought this to Stephanie’s attention, her mood changed for the worst. She still forgot the grits, that we just gave up on, and walked by and told us that the toast was in the toaster in an angry demeanor, never apologizing for any of her mistakes. She was not friendly and acted as if she didn’t want to be there. No one there had any sense of urgency to get the food out in a timely manner or even offer drink refills. I never got a refill on the tea I ordered and she never offered drink refills. Again, worst service I have ever had. Rude waitress, cold food, wrong orders, no sense of urgency or friendliness and she only had two tables. Management was nonexistent. Do...
Read moreGranted this could have been a one time situation, but our server assured us otherwise. At 4:30 in the morning, it appeared that this location was short on so many menu items. To start, our server apologized for no ice in the water. Apparently the ice machine was been broken for a few days and blocks of ice were bought at the "quickie Mart" next door and the cook was chopping the ice in between food orders. Silverware would be brought shortly as our server was pulling double duty. Apparently the dishwasher had Wednesdays off. The party behind us was told that they had run out of chicken and afew other meats. However, there was still some hamburgers available, but they had no french fries - only breakfast tatter tots. Our server explained the new manager felt that customers would prefer tt's over ff's and ordered accordingly. After about 4 or 5 "I am sorry, we do not have that", one in the party asked what they could have. My companion ordered the patty melt, with tt's. The bread could have been toasted a bit more and the burger could have been left on the griddle another moment or so as it was still juicy. We figured the cook was trying to complete other tasks and it was not that much of an issue to send it back. My breakfast was acceptable as well. The bacon was still a tad limp and I had to remind my server about my biscuit twice. It was very unfortunate to hear the staff ridicule the manager about his staffing and food planning. The menu looked interesting enough to try again, but at a different location. As we were leaving, a Huddle House tractor trailer was just pulling around to the back. We wondered who was going to have to unload their supplies and how the service for upcoming customers...
