The first thing you notice when you walk into this restaurant, is the smell. It reminds me of those great, awesome diners in New Jersey, where the cooks are Italian or Greek, and the food is amazing. I remember Mays Landing, and Egg Harbor, where I would often stop by Mays Landing Diner and be totally immersed in a culinary experience of tastebud explosion, every time. I would leave with one of their delicious pies or cakes that sat rotating in that glass case, or I would snatch up a box of their fresh chocolate covered strawberries heading out to bring them home. Knife and Fork, although it doesn't quite have the same atmosphere of those diners in the Northeast Corner of the country, the food is mouth watering. The staff is very attentive, the air of Southern Hospitality is embedded in the walls, the sweet tea is delicious, the pancakes are delectable, and everything else we've tried is just amazing. That bacon could be eaten easily by the pound. Those cheeseburgers are something else. Dinner is as if you stopped by your best friend's grandmother's house in that two story Victorian, eating at a large antique table that has serviced several generations. I watched the cook, can't remember his name but I think he is the owner, and I swear that guy is from up north somewhere. He's got that distinct coolness, moving about the kitchen tossing things, flipping things, scrambling something, just doing his THING. Definitely fun to watch, unless they are busy- the space gets thick around the door. When we are too busy in our home offices to eat in, we order carry out and make the drive up to grab it and bring it home. It's as good as it is when you sit in a booth. You wouldn't notice this place from the road unless you were looking for it, so my advice to anyone is to zoom in on Google maps so you don't miss it. You'll regret passing this place...
Read moreFood is the standard "Knife & Fork" - a lot of food for the price, eggs cooked appropriately to order, unseasoned overall, undercooked biscuits. Now my family and I have been going to this place off&on for years and I have never seen staff that have absolute zero regards for safety of customers. Wait staff was a WHOLE BUNCH OF BS. During mother's days - myself, husband and mother went here to eat. After ordering a hot cup of water [ for hot tea that we brought since they had none ] waitress comes to our table flinging the hot kettle around and spilling it [ thankfully just barely splashing my hand ]. Waitress said it just slipped but " yay i didn't spill it on you".... yay? 2 minutes later, an adjacent table sitting with 2 women and 2 men were waiting on their coffee. A different waitress brings them a steaming, boiling pot of coffee and spills it primarily on this one lady, landing almost 1/2 pot in her lap and the reminder sliding across the table on another womans lap. The waitress initially just laughed and majority of the restaurant customers gasped and it became dead silent. Wiatress offers no apologizes but 10% off to the second lady it spilled on and a free meal for the first lady. at check out, waitress mutters to myself in regards to these women, that "all they need is alone vera and they will be fine." No offer from knife and fork for no charge for ANY of the food at that table today and just complete lack of concern for her serious burns, which by the way are covering almost 80% of her thighs.
Never agoan will be going regardless of the flavorless food, the horrible staff, particularly the waitress who did not once ask if they were okay. I hope that family is okay and will be...
Read moreI went to the bathroom to wash my hands and there was a man in there, short, Hispanic, backwards hat and ripped jeans, kept blowing kisses at me and asking me if I spoke Spanish as he lustfully looked me up and down with a nasty smirk on his face. I am a minor, and when I asked him if he identified as a female he shook his head. Kept trying to get me to go into the bathroom but I refused. He wasn't dressed like he worked there and didn't speak a lick of English, when I left the corridor to the bathroom to go tell my mom I was shaking, when we told the staff they did nothing, claimed he was just cleaning when he didn't have supplies set up in the bathroom or anything. They just told me he was probably trying to understand me since he didn't speak English. Blowing kisses and looking me up and down translation in every language is CREEP. Nothing happened to the dude, he didn't face repercussions and I will never return to this diner despite all my early childhood memories there, in fear that I will be treated like meat and told it's normal. The food was subpar and as a result of me complaining about the creeper they...
