I don’t normally review restaurants, but this place has been difficult two times now. When Takara first opened up there were a lot of Groupons and we got hasseled when we used it and got into a dispute over the pricing being different. Not until I flat out refused to pay anything different and again showed them the Groupon did they fix it. That left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn’t go back for years. About a year ago a rehearsal dinner was held there and everything was ok so it made me feel better about going there again. Today is Sunday and they have a Sunday Brunch special. When you walk in there is also a sign that says $1.99 for kids chicken or Shrimp with adult dinner. We got sat and were given no kids menu and I ordered as if my kids meals were a $1.99. Now mind you my kids are 1 & 2 if I wasn’t getting meals at $1.99 I might order one or let them have some off my plate. I get my bill and my steak and chicken adult portion is $13.00 and my kids shrimp is $9 and chicken is $8. I’m like whoa the signs says their a $1.99 well come to find out that’s only if the adult pays the dinner price. The kids meals are not discounted at all during brunch. Well had I known that I wouldn’t have paid those crazy prices for a kids meal. The manager argues with me about it and I’m like we weren’t even given kids menues to know what the prices were I assumed based on the sign. She does finally agree to a $5 discount which I guess brings the kids meals down to a more reasonable kids price. On top of that this time our chef got our veggies wrong he stormed off muttering leaving the rice on the gril to burn. When he got back with the correct veggies he put on no show whatsoever. No tossing the egg no volcano fire absolutely nothing. So we got no show for the hibachi, crazily prices kids meals, and a manager who can’t even accept her staff made a mistake. Plus the management has her little kid in there walking around during a busy time. Maybe if her staff wasn’t trying to watch her kids they could remember to give our all the nessisary menues when they sit a table. Based on other reviews there is new management, but they have obviously not improved their customer...
Read moreTerrible Expierence. I will never patronize this business again.Today was my 1st and will be my last experience @. Takara Japanese Steakhouse. We went there for lunch today and had the worst experience ever. Our waitress had attitude and was disrespectful from the moment we got there. Obviously there was something very wrong with bringing a baby to their place of business because she was very upset with me for asking for a sling to put our babies car seat in. Our visit just continued to decline after she got an attitude with me for asking for a menu and rolled her eyes as she walked off. After speaking with the manager the waitress come over to the table and states in front of our children " I don't want to be your f** waitress and starts arguing with my family. To make matters worse the manager and another employee came to us stating that she was usually a very nice girl. Well not today!!!!!!! We decided the best thing to do would be to leave, as we were walking out the door the waitress was flipping us the bird on our way out the door. As I was inquiring about the owners name and number before leaving the waitress came up and started yelling at me right in front of her manager. I am thinking what is wrong with you. This is why people act the way they do because there are no repercussions or consequences for people's actions. Had I been the manager I would have asked the employee to gather her belongs and leave immediately but in this case the manager made excuses for her poor and inappropriate actions. I refuse to patronize a business that has no more expectations or standards for their business or employees. I told the manager what a sad first impression of a business that I have heard so many good things about. Looks like someone needs to teach their employees the fundamentals of customer service because there is certainly a lack there of...... Takara I wish your business well in the future because with employees, service and management like I experienced today , you're...
Read moreWas visiting family in Monroe NC. I and my wife are sushi lovers so we decided to go to Takara Sushi since they were the only sushi place we found on Google. Not a good experience, not sure why they have a 4.2 star rating on Google ! Sushi was very dry and seemed at least a day old, we did come in the evening so they were probably prepared in the morning and sat all day awaiting our arrival lol. I and my wife are used to going to places like Raku sushi and Arigato sushi in California, both excellent placed to eat sushi. Pricing is about the same for sushi at the 3 mentioned locations but Takara Sushi pales in comparison in quality, taste and freshness of the food, where as Raku and Arigatos prepare sushi when ordered Takara seems to make it in the morning and waits for customers to come later in that day. Besides the sushi being dry and a day old (at least) the quality did not seem to compare to the other sushi restaurants either. Now i am a sushi lover and have tried sushi all over America, and i think its fair to say that chines buffets usually have the worst sushi available but there have been a couple buffets, one being in Miami Fl that have had better sushi in their buffets then Takara shushi does at their restaurant (keeping in mind that the whole buffet experience with shushi included, costed the same as 1 roll of dry sushi from Takara ) and in my opinion that is pretty bad when you have been beat by a BUFFET !! I understand that Takara is probably the only sushi place in Monroe NC and for that reason the locals might rate it a 4.2 out of 5 stars, but from a perspective outside Monroe's parimeters we will not be going back to Takara sushi ! Which will be easy to do since we are only visiting and do...
