I eat a lot of poke. For some reason, nobody on the mainland can make rice correctly. They think it's an afterthought when rice is equally as important as the poke. The Rice here is hard and dry. I came here on a weekend, lunch. You'd think the rice would be fresh. It wasn't. It was sooo hard and dry. Like rice that's been sitting in a cooker for 4 hours. Make smaller batches. It'll come out better. The fish was ok. The sauces are quite bland. I think the rice completely ruined this experience for me. I left behind a big slab of crust in the pic. Look at it. Unfortunate.

I've been coming here for sometime, finally found the poke spot I call home; they seek to provide Hawaiian flavors and preparations, but keep it California with customizations to fit their customers' needs. The owner makes sure that not only the fish is quality, but also all the toppings that make their bowls. The sauces, especially are a passion project where the chef gets a chance to explore different flavor combinations and profiles to keep me coming back for more. And I will! Ignore my cruddy photo, too excited to eat to stage a nice shot!

When I first walked in with my cousin, the staff was very nice and helpful with walking us through the ordering process and left us with a really good impression. The ambiance of the establishment itself was also really down to earth with it's whole design and music playing in the background. The poke bowl itself was also well served with the choice of 3 or 5 proteins and a wide variety of things to add into the bowl.

Not sure why 3 younger girls in the front couldn't stop "scooping" or stop what they were doing in the moment to help take my order, yesterday lunch time around 2pm, knowing I was the only one standing in line at the time there. I had to ask nicely TWICE to be helped and 2 different girls told me to wait while they were finished, nobody wanted to help me right away. I even said I had somewhere to be and they didnt care at all! I was shocked by that actually. Never in my 29 almost 30 years have I experienced that kind of service. Thank you to the boys working there that were kind to me the last times I went. I don't feel comfortable around the girls there, they were mean to me and I had to walk out to save my own embarrassment/humiliation.

To the girls, take it from someone a little older than you, drop the nasty attitude please before you learn it the harder way. It's not cute and it's very unprofessional. Not fair to the owner either your...

Good poke although there could definitely be some quality of life improvements, like the cucumbers are cut in a way making it very difficult to eat and where it blocks the other ingredients from getting on your spoon. Cut them thinner and it'll come out better, not circle cut. Also don't push the rice down so much when you compress it like that it loses its fluffyness and just isn't pleasant to eat. Other than that the sauce choices and fish choices are great and if you like variety you can always come back the next time to try a different combination of...
