Over View: The restraunt is quaint and simple. Do not judge by the outside... the outside is part of a mini-mart gas station, but once inside the place is clean, well decorated, and quiet. Plenty of seating available. Food had it's own flavor to familiar dishes, I liked that - a plus for me. Staff was very curtious and kind. We plan to return.
Food: Portions are huge, which was a delightful suprise since shrink-flation is hitting every other place, while prices are rising ( May 2023 ).
So, we came at dinner, which is 3pm and after - sizes increase apparently, at this time.
Our Order:
• BBQ Pork Fried Rice ( we added additional meat ) • Orange Chicken, side of egg fried rice • Pork Fried Egg Rolls ( order for two ) • Egg Drop Soup, side of Fried Wonton Crisps • Sweet Ice Tea ( served in an iced mug ) • Canned Root Beer ( served in an iced mug )
Egg Drop Soup? Just Okay.
That said, I've been chasing the perfect egg drop soup for years. There was a place that has since closed that had the absolute best egg rolls and egg drop soup... so I must admit I am super particular about my eggdrop soup. So, take my rating of okay as you wish.
Literally, everything Else? Delicious. 💕🌿
The Egg Rolls look over cooked, but they are not at all. Their taste was so good, tbh.
Wait Time: None to be seated and waited on. Meal came out rather promptly. Ticket was offered at end of meal. You have the option to pay at the register or at the table, we chose table and everything was taken care of rather fast.
Price: Well priced! You recieve a heap of food that actually matches the price per dish. If you need to take any food home, they offer takeout containers and cups to take the rest of your drink to go. Just ask.
Staff: Our waiter was Tot. They were very accomodating and attentive. Kept the refillable drinks filled and checked on us to the proper degree ( not too little, not too much ). They were very kind and helpful, as well and never rushed us. We had explained we were first time customers and she took good care of us. Kept a very pleasant attitude, as well. It's nice to have a happy waiter for once.
Also, I found it so sweet that the other server took the time to adjust the blinds without being prompted and also cared for the plants they have in the window. Watching this person care for plants really added to my meal experience, this small restraunt even carefully cares for their small window plants.
I have always held if the persons who are cooking and waiting on you are happy and enjoy their job... their care and love will show in your meal. This held true for this place, as well.
Dining Room Cleanliness: The place was spotless when we entered, and that did noy diminish as we had our meal and
Restrooms: I FORGOT TO CHECK RESTROOMS 🥲 my apologies . . .
HOWEVER.... though I did not check restrooms on the inside and on the outside their are signs about their restrooms.
The outside sign confused me, but I misunderstood it's meaning. It says no public restrooms... I thought they meant restrooms were staff only. 😅
Not the case at all!! The signage located inside elaborates further. It explains that the restrooms are for paying customers only - so no randos are coming inside and making the restrooms nasty or making customers feel uncomfortable. K. that is a nice touch seeing as the outside of the building doesnt match the inside.
i will try to remember to visit and update the reiew on restroom quality, next...
Read moreThe staff were very friendly. The Cafe was spotless. Clean restrooms. We ordered General Tso's chicken and Sweet n Sour chicken and 2 egg rolls. $30, to me, was quite steep. While none of the food was bad, all of it lacked in bold flavor. It's like they were scared of over doing it, so they left it on the not so tasty side. I wouldn't say bland but, close. I made some sauce with soy, rice vinegar and Sesame oil at home. Fixed my Tso's right up. The food portions above par. Tomorrow will make the 3rd night of chicken. Egg roll and fried rice are gone. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a friendly staff, clean place and quiet atmosphere. Tho, I would recommend asking for extra flavoring. By the way. They give you packets of duck sauce. I had never had any. I thought it had duck in it. I gave it a try. Phenomenal! I will be buying me a bottle on my next grocery run! Oh. I stole a few pieces of my Mom's sweet n...
Read moreMy wife and I are full time travelers, and on moving day, after setting up our new camp, we're usually too tired to make dinner and have made sort of a tradition in getting Chinese food on those days. We arrived in Anahuac, and I did a search for Chinese food near me, and read the reviews for the few places nearby. We chose this one, and were very happy we did. The lady behind the counter was very nice, and we placed our order (eat-in, which we normally don't do). We both got unsweetened ice tea, which was good and strong the way we like it. For appetizers we ordered spring rolls and pork egg rolls, both of which came out piping hot and delicious. For dinner I ordered the combination lo mein, and she got General Tso's chicken, and both were very fresh, and again, delicious. We had enough to take home for lunch too. I would definitely recommend this place for very good...
