I recently visited Jayce with a friend, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We tried four different items, and none of them lived up to the standards one would expect from a French bakery. Having traveled to France and experienced authentic French pastries, I was shocked at the disparity.
The pastries we tried lacked the delicate texture and rich flavors that are the hallmark of French baking. It was clear that the ingredients used were not of the highest quality, and the execution was poor. Each item we sampled was a letdown, from the stale croissants to the flavorless tarts.
Additionally, the customer service left much to be desired. The staff seemed indifferent and unhelpful, which only added to our dissatisfaction. For a place that markets itself as a French bakery, they need to significantly improve both their product quality and their service.
Overall, this place did not meet our expectations, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic French pastry experience. The management needs to take serious steps to improve their offerings and their customer service to justify their claim as a...
Read moreI ordered a re-creation of my friend’s complex multi-layered, multi-textured wedding cake as a surprise for her. Jayce made a beautiful and delicious cake that was such a hit that he made 2 more of them for me. But what prompted me to write this review is his thoughtfulness towards his customers: Two days before the surprise was to be delivered, my friend called Jayce herself to order the same cake! Before he replied to her, in order to preserve my surprise, he asked if I would like him to make an excuse for why he can’t make her cake… maybe he’s too busy or something? This could have put his reputation at risk and upset a potential customer but I so appreciated his offer. We had a good laugh and in the end I fessed up to my friend, who was thrilled with the cake.
If you are looking for elegant French pastries (with delicately-balanced flavors and textures) from a kind and talented baker/artist, your search is over. Go see Jayce. Great products, great service.
Tip: try his fresh madeleines for a little pick-me-up any time of day. Great with a cup of...
Read moreThe desserts at Jayce Baudry are so beautifully executed and so delicious that I don't even have the words to adequately describe them. I wish I did, but I'm not a food critic and would not do any of them justice. I would like to say that beyond the pastries, which are exceptional, the customer service is stellar.
I dropped in at 5 PM on Thanksgiving Eve, after a LONG day. We'd just picked up my oldest son from college, drove all the way back home, and stopped by Jayce Baudry with the hopes that we could get a pie for Thanksgiving. All they had left was apple, which my younger son can't eat because of food sensitive.. But everyone loves pumpkin and that's what we were hoping to find. We would return on Thanksgiving morning with the hopes of getting one.
But then the chef, Jayce, asked if we could come back in two hours to get a pumpkin pie. I could and did! I cannot even tell the how much stress was alleviated by this gesture. I was so grateful, I nearly cried. The pie was beautiful...
