tacoria - Mexican Street Kitchen — Restaurant in Montclair

I love coming here because the food is delicious and always tastes so fresh. The service is incredible too. Last night I dined in and met Jeff the store manager. A couple of instances showed me how he goes the extra mile to keep his customers happy and his kindness and professionalism earns respect.

After ordering my food, I realized I forgot to order drinks so I went back to the cashier to ask for two water cups. Jeff was in the vicinity and generously offered soft drink cups on the house instead. While I politely declined, I wasn't expecting that at all and I was very appreciative.

I dropped a burrito box face down on the table I was eating at. I went to go to the cashier to order a new one and had my payment ready, but Jeff told me don't worry about it and immediately placed a new order for me. I was expecting to wait some time but the order came out almost instantly and was brought to my table. Jeff also personally cleaned up the mess I made (sorry!). I just don't see that kind of service elsewhere.

I witnessed Jeff take the trays of a couple sitting nearby after they were done eating and brought them back to the front. I understand that certain things may be expected in the service industry, but I am grateful to have eaten at Tacoria last night and met a man like Jeff. I can see that he has excellent work ethic and is only trying to make ends meet.

There is a burrito spot and theres the mighty TACORIA !!! I found this spot thanks to other reviewers, and lets just say this place and chipotle aren't even in the same category. Read for a full review.

The Food: ill start here cause you don't want to read deeply and you just wanna know how does this place stand in relation to other spots. Well.... this place is absolutely delicious !!! They take a few time tested flavor profiles in beef, chicken, and veggie varieties and allow you to enjoy those flavors in a burrito, in nachos, and a few other preparation styles. Everything is delicious, fresh, and fairly quick! Imagine taking chipotle, updating it with all fresh high quality ingredients, and presenting it with a twist, and you have Tacoria !!!

The location: it is tucked on a street corner of delicious places in montclair, where only the strong survive! The heavy weight champ Cuban Petes is almost right across the way, and this place still brings in customers. It is plenty safe, parking is a little difficult on the weekends, but otherwise all is good!

Service: take a bunch of young people, with big smiles, and a group of cooks who seem to enjoy what they do, and you have a recipe for success. My trip was refreshing and rewarding as service on this level is rare to find. Hats off to the staff for making it a pleasant experience!

I've ordered from this Tacoria countless times. Tonight, they were a nightmare. I Door Dashed two burritos and chips/guacamole. Once the food arrived, I realized one burrito was completely wrong. We ordered a chorizo burrito with brown rice and guacamole. What we received was a plain chicken burrito. I immediately called the restaurant to relay what had happened. After being placed on a brief hold, I was told I could either come in for them to remake it or dispute the issue with Door Dash. I obviously can't make it into the store. This is why I Door Dashed in the first place. Secondly, why should I dispute it with Door Dash? The dasher picked up the bag with the correct name on it. It's not his fault the restaurant messed up. The worse part, however, was the employee's explanation of why this happened. He stated that they can't open up the burritos once they are made and therefore it's hard to know if they are going into the right bags. I'm sorry, what?! So they are okay with sending out wrong orders, especially some that could cause allergy issues? That is insane! He followed it up by saying that they can't keep up with rush time in the restaurant. So now this is a reason to provide paying customers with wrong orders? Unacceptable! Terrible, terrible experience. Will definitely be thinking twice before ordering...
