Fun, informative dance classes/lessons. Two thumbs up! They offer instruction for different levels or occasions. While I have no experience, they have made it comfortable to get started.

The other students are friendly. There are students of all different levels and at practice parties sometimes it’s helpful to observe the more sophisticated people but at the same time the classes are tiered so you can learn at an appropriate pace.

All of the staff are instructors par excellence. I like to analogize them with movie stars :-). There is Frank, sort of the Cary Grant, Oscar Isaac of the group. He is debonair and very clear and meticulous in explaining steps. Then there is Amy, she’s like Anne Hathaway or a young Meryl Strep; she imbues all her instruction with a sophisticated artsy sensibility. She is perceptive at instantly diagnosing what you can do to improve, and she deploys vivid metaphors to make it easy to remember or intuit steps, which is a huge help. Finally, there is Rosa, sort of like Rey from Star Wars. She is a fount of knowledge and brings so much expertise, energy, and enthusiasm to her instruction that it is infectious in making you care more and try harder than you would otherwise. She also seems to have an empathetic sixth sense to know if one is struggling (then she is extra kind) or getting complacent (then she is a bit tougher, in a good way :...

My wife and I were searching for professional help with dance lessons and creating a routine for our first dance, at our wedding. After reading reviews and watching videos online, we decided to book private individual lessons and group lessons at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, in Montclair.

Our instructor, Rosa, WAS INCREDIBLE!! She was patient, encouraging, energetic, a great coach and amazing dancer. We submitted our first dance song to Rosa and she choreographed an awesome routine for us. To put it bluntly - we were not good dancers when we showed up to our first lesson but Rosa made us feel comfortable. By the end of the lessons we were confident and can now say we are good dancers! Our first dance was unique and our guests were blown away! The group dances allowed us to learn popular dances that we could use on the dance floor during the wedding.

My husband and I had a phenomenal experience working with Aurthur Murray Dance Studio Montclair! We reached out to Arthur Murray for dance lessons for our wedding about five months before the event date. From our first lesson, Frank made us feel so comfortable and excited about learning our dance. Frank was very prepared and already had choreographed the beginning of our first dance to our chosen song. To start, Frank taught us some basic steps and broke everything down so it was very easy to follow. He was extremely encouraging and helped build our confidence throughout the few months we took the lessons. Frank listened to our feedback and choreographed an amazing first dance for us. We also worked with Ali during the group lesson and she was wonderful as well.
