Samurai Sushi & Teriyaki — Restaurant in Montebello

Not sure how the reviews are so good here maybe I came on a bad day? Sushi was not great which was the only reason I was there. California rolls had way too much mayo it overpowered the flavor. Teriyaki chicken was good at least.

I asked the girl what was in their garden salad she said “I dont know” and then said “its nothing special” lol I was hoping for a nice asian style dressing or wontons or ginger or at least something good to be in it 🤷🏻‍♀️ Tempura was ok.

They set sushi on my table with no wasabi or ginger. Not much luck getting their attn. The employees were definitely nice and all but they were all talking amongst themselves and playing around. I felt like an unwanted guest.

I asked if its possible to get salmon sushi instead of tuna for the bento box sushi and they said it would be extra $3 charge even tho the individual salmon sushi is cheaper than the tuna. What? lol

I could not enjoy the experience at all. I couldnt wait to get out of there. Ive had delicious sushi at many many places and this my friends was most definitely was not one of them. I was extremely disappointed. $15 thrown away. I want a time machine so I can go back in time and skip going here altogether.

I recently dined at this sushi restaurant, and it was much more delicious than I expected

-Sushi: We ordered yellowtail, albacore, and salmon sushi and they were unbelievably fresh, with each bite melting like butter. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and my boyfriend especially loved their salmon.

-Calamari Tempura: It was crispy, and cooked to perfection. It came with a refreshing salad, and the house-made dressing added a burst of flavor that tied it all together.

Baked Lobster Roll:One of my favorites! It was perfectly balanced and full of rich, satisfying flavors. Aloha Roll:A must try!, with just the right amount of spiciness, making each bite extra enjoyable. Salmon Roll:This roll was also incredibly fresh, with every bite bursting with flavor. I couldn’t recall the exact name because I was too busy savoring every mouthful! Monster Roll:It was packed with bold flavors and had the perfect harmony—absolutely delicious.

Service: Our server was kind and friendly, making the experience even better. I don’t understand some of the negative reviews about their service—we had a great time and felt well...

The food here is consistently good, but the service has become unacceptable and unprofessional. The cashier—specifically the shorter young woman with prominent eyes—should not be handling customer interactions, whether in person or over the phone. Her communication skills are poor, and she repeatedly hangs up when customers try to place phone orders.

I used to bring my family here regularly because of the quality of the food. However, due to the ongoing issues with service, I had already resorted to phone orders to avoid the in-person experience. Now that even phone orders are being mishandled, tonight will be my last visit.

I can no longer recommend this place to friends or family. Management needs to seriously evaluate their hiring and training standards. If they don’t, they risk losing loyal customers like myself—not because of the food, but because of the people representing...
