I want to preface this review by saying that Kimberly did apologize and give a refund. I debated writing this, but I feel responsibility to warn others about getting perms here because they irreparably damaged my teen son’s hair.
The stylist did not mix the perming lotion correctly. She poured a whole bottle on his head, realized after 10 minutes that the particular product required mixing another bottle with it, asked another stylist how to fix it, then tried to mix them (after the proportions of solutions were off) and then applied to his hair. I took a picture of the perming kit and looked up the instructions after and got opinions from other salons - she did not do this correctly. The result was then an absurd uneven curl pattern across my son’s head, and even worse, FRIZZY, DULL and completely damaged and broken hair.
When I tried to respectfully address this, the store manager Daniela told me that no mistakes were made on their end, that the mixing solution didn’t actually need to be mixed (which is literally contrary to the instructions on the box), that curly hair is meant to be frizzy, and that perhaps even it was my fault for watching the stylist and being too close to her working space (when checking in with my son during a three hour process) and for touching his curls (to show them where there were issues after they rinsed all the solution out and ran their fingers through his hair multiple times). She accused me of maybe having shampoo on my fingers and it ruined the curls….??
She offered a half refund or a reperm (which I later learned would have damaged his hair even more and not fixed it). When I politely declined and asked for a full refund so I could find another salon to fix it, she cursed and yelled at me to never come back to the salon and to “go do whatever I want”. It ended up costing me $200 at another salon (they heavily discounted it because they felt so bad) to try a clarifying shampoo to undo the perm, but the damage is already done.
RUN, don’t walk, away from Daniela. She was incredibly rude and strange. She asked me intrusive questions about my financial status, including if I was sending my son to a private school and how much I pay for my own black hairstyles (and mentioned she had black girls in her salon before). This is on top of blaming me for the salons mistakes, rejecting my refund after damaging my son’s hair, and being very nasty to me. Overall, just a disappointment and weird experience for us.
I will say Kimberly was very kind and did try her best to remedy the situation. Our regret is not booking the perm with her to begin with. She offered a refund, apologized and said she would address it with her stylists. So while she did fix it as much as she could and while we do appreciate it, I still felt like I needed to leave this review so others can be very careful getting perms here. My son’s hair is so damaged it basically needs to be cut and he has to regrow it. And all a few days before he starts...
Read more5 stars to the Hairdresser Apprentice for her Work, patience and taking it easy and no rush but rest assured you will definitely get Over Priced Here For the same Work you can get At any other salon for an actual reasonable price . They will give you a false estimate and add onto it later or try to study you in person to See How much they can overcharge you. They Treat You Nice and their work is Alright but definitely not Beverly Hills Pricing Worthy . You might or will get judged for what you wear, drive and how you are shaped lol I don’t recommend unless it’s your last resort and are willing to pay upto $100+ just for a simple haircut . So BEWARE!!! Not everyone gets the same pricing or fair pricing so be very careful and I suggest calling ALL OPTIONS AND BE PATIENT . PLAN AHEAD AND CHOOSE A BETTER SALON . Got charged $500 for ONLY A perm on medium length hair and as a first time client and I only agreed as I was so anxious on getting it done last minute before all salons close ! No Mercy ! lol It’s good to treat yourself to expensive things once in a while but I still feel like i got robbed but atleast it was willingly lol I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK Tho and Will tell all my friends and family to BEWARE ! NOT BUDGET FREINDLY !! Just to wash you hair they will charge you $70 least lol no cut, no nothing , JUST A WASH and blow dry Maybe if your lucky with those pricings lol Just had to share my experience and personal opinion ! Like DAMN! I could’ve saved myself...
Read moreNormally, I don’t write reviews, but this experience was so horrible I had to. I came in for a perm today as a new client, and it was an absolute nightmare. The stylist gave me a short consult about my hair history I was very transparent, told her I had bleached my hair about a year or/and a half ago, and even showed her the semi-permanent pigment shampoo I was using. She had me sign a waiver stating any damages wouldn’t be their responsibility, but the only explanation she gave was “because you have previous bleach underneath.”
During the appointment, she NEVER once mentioned my hair was being fried or that there was damage happening. Only after washing did she finally acknowledge that my hair was completely destroyed brittle, fried, and literally breaking off. When I asked about the damage, she casually admitted more of my hair was ruined than expected and brushed it off with, “we can cut it, that’s probably where you had bleach.”
As a hairstylist, it is their responsibility to give expert advice and look out for the health of their client’s hair. Had I been told upfront that my hair was at risk of being completely fried off, I NEVER would have gone through with this service. Instead, I walked out with my hair ruined, my confidence crushed, and no real accountability from the salon.
Do NOT come here. These people do not care about the integrity of your hair or giving you honest, professional guidance. Worst salon experience...
