Marie Callender's — Restaurant in Monterey Park

I routinely dine here twice a month, moderately priced & close to home. I consider myself a generous tipper, especially towards struggling students & two job employees, which, are courteous & accommodating! HOWEVER, my last visit, two in our party ordered BB-Q ribs, which were tasty & tender, BOTH awoke the following morning with, YES, DIARRHEA, not pleasant, even writing about it. I notified the manger, Alice, she asked a few questions, deemed my complaint justified. I requested compensation, which she agreed to & stated she'd mail two dinner certificates. What I actually received were, TWO CERTIFICATES FOR, either APPLE or PUMPKIN pies!! At the VERY LEAST, A "NEW YORK style CHEESE CAKE", or pies of MY CHOICE, NOT MC's CHOICE, should have been issued. Even before this unfortunate experience, I never bought pies at MC. Their strawberry pies are glazed strawberries in a pie shell, no type of filling or cream; one must request whipped cream & even then, the server must clear it with management, if an extra fee should be added! Don't know if this is the norm at other MC's, I won't be returning anytime soon, IF AT ALL. I heard this location, (Monterey Pk.) was under new management, A HUGE MISTAKEN to scrimp on food or service! THE ABSOLUTE BEST PLACE FOR PIES IS, "STOX" in Downey, CA. Their pineapple cream cheese pie on a flakey pie crust, which compliments, NOT OVERPOWERING the rich, cream cheese filling, is too, too delicious, AND STOX, refunds $1.00 for each pie pan returned, which can be applied to bakery or...

1 Star only because there wasn't a -100 option Horrifying experience — safety was completely ignored

I’ve never left a review like this before, but what happened at this restaurant was beyond unacceptable. I went in expecting a normal meal — instead, I witnessed an absolutely terrifying situation that management failed to properly handle.

While I was dining, a couple began screaming at another customer, loudly and aggressively, creating a chaotic scene. It escalated fast — they were physically attacking this person, hitting her in full view of everyone. It wasn’t a minor altercation. They were screaming at the top of their lungs and beating the hell out of her, and people were clearly in shock.

I and several others repeatedly complained and pleaded for help — to staff, to management — asking them to intervene, call the police, something. But they did nothing. No effort to protect the customer being attacked, no call for help, and no attempt to de-escalate the situation. It was horrifying to watch and even worse to realize that no one in charge took it seriously.

This place clearly has zero regard for customer safety. If something like this happens in your establishment and you let it go on unchecked, that’s beyond negligence — it’s complicity.

Needless to say, I will never be back, and I strongly urge others to stay away until this place gets new management and a serious wake-up call about...

I Came here on November 23rd 2022 to pick up a Thanksgiving Meal I ordered on November 1st 2022. I was literally in and out in about 10 minutes and the staff at the tent were very helpful and very well organized! Everything from the check in process to getting my meal was perfect! This is the first time I ever order anything from Marie Callendars and I am extremely happy with the experience. Even the food in the box was organized and absolutely nothing spilled because all the containers were properly closed, even the Gravy container was placed in some type of cardboard pocket to prevent it from moving!

I don't mean to praise them so much but I've order from other places and they have never been as organized as the staff from this location. Next year for Thanksgiving, I know where I'm gonna order my food from again. The meal was also very delicious and all my family relatives that came over were all surprised and complimenting the taste of the Marie Callendars Thanksgiving Meal.
