I've heard amazing things about Sunright Tea Studio in Diamond Bar, but I;ve never had the chance to drive over and visit. Super thrilled when I heard that a new location would be opening in Monterey Park. They're located in the same plaza as the original Half and Half, Macchiato, and Dot & Dough. There's basically a ton of boba shops in that one small area, so if one shop is super crowded, you can always head over to another.
I read through reviews and saw that the most convenient way to place an order was on-line; that way, you can save some wait time if you order before you're en route to the store. They do have two kiosks located near the back entrance. It seems like the automated message will tell you that the estimated wait time is around 25-30 minutes, but after I placed the order, I received a confirmation immediately and was notified via text that my order was ready about 5 minutes later. Don't expect a major wait time if you come during off hours on a weekday!
The on-line ordering system is pretty user friendly. I wanted to order the Sunright Boba Milk Tea, but because they had run out of boba, I wasn't able to substitute it for something else and that item wasn't able to be placed in my order at all. Luckily they're fairly on top of the online orders; I called and was told that the boba would be ready in 20 minutes and sure enough, the drink was able to be added to my order in the estimated time.
Sunright fruit tea: $4.95 with an additional $0.65 for honey boba. I didn't change the sugar levels for any drink and kept it at the recommended 100% sweetness. I thought this fruit tea was pretty good. There were some orange and lemon slices and pulp from the fruit. Because I added in boba, there actually wasn't much room for tea. The 100% sugar level wasn't too sweet, but the addition of the honey boba made it a little bit on the sweeter side. Boba was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of chewiness to each bite. Flavor was pretty refreshing, but I don't know if I'd order this again.
Sunright boba milk tea: $4.75 and this comes with brown sugar boba included in the price. No sugar adjusted, so the entire drink was majorly sweet. Flavor was good, but there was more milk taste than tea. Boba was again, perfectly cooked and worth the 20 minute wait. I'd probably order this with less sugar next time.
Four season cheese foam: $4.75; tea quality was definitely there. Each sip had that pure tea quality and even though it was at 100% sweetness, I thought this drink wasn't too bad. Cheese foam was not too heavy and added a good amount of sweetness to the four season tea. Would reorder this again.
Grapefruit jasmine tea: $4.75 ordered this for my friend so I didn't get to actually try it, but she said she enjoyed the drink. There was a lot of grapefruit flavor, but she'd probably adjust to 75% sugar the next time.
Overall, the drinks were all very good and I definitely want to return soon to try some of their other items. One gripe I did have was that their bags and cupholder are not effective at all. Bags are super thin without much grip in the handle, and the cupholders are very flimsy plastic. I get that maybe they want to invest in items that are more environmentally friendly, but hopefully there's another way. The bag couldn't be carried by the handle and when I tried to carry all four drinks by the bottom of the cup, I couldn't get a firm grip. They didn't stay upright at all in my car.
tl;dr - A great new boba addition to the SGV area. Will be back to try their yogurt drinks. They're accepting card only...

Enter from either the front or back is okay. The door to enter from the back does lead you to cross paths with the people who are ordering at the ordering kiosks but there should be enough room to pass by.
I placed an order online and it was ready for pickup! Really fast and friendly service. She gave me a free bag for my drinks to carry.
LOVE how you can get oat or almond milk as substitutions for your drinks!!
Taro ice milk: got this with almond milk and it was a nice dessert! At 50% sweet, it tasted very natural, esp the taro!
Boba: They are cute yellow-ish colored-super chewy and a nice size!! Good flavor! They have been pretty consistent too.
Sunright Fruit tea: 75% still tastes like 100% sweet so def go lower for this one if you like lightly sweetness drinks.
4 seasons cheese foam: the tea has a nice flavor. I love how the cheese foam is very thick and creamy. The flavor is more on the cheesy side and it’s not a salty one. I would say it is similar to Tea Brick’s cheese foam.
We’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks so I would say we will be regulars in the future! Love the convenience of ordering online and quick grab & go service at the counter. All staff have been friendly and nice! :) Wish they had a stamp card or rewards system.
On Jan 3rd- there was a promotion for a free boba pop socket if you spent...
Read moreUpdated review: Big yikes. I know it’s just 30 mins after I posted my first review for this shop, but I found something weird in the drink. As I was enjoying my regular milk tea with boba, I felt like I sucked up something that’s not suppose to be in my drink?? I was so spooked and surprised by this weird texture in my mouth. I spit it out and it’s like a weird thin crispy thing. I have no idea what is this. Man, I guess this is my first bad experience right here.
5 stars for the drink and staff! Great drink as always from Sunright. I have yet to have any bad experiences about their drinks.
-2 stars for the gross smell closer to the rear door to the rear parking lot. Hope this will get the attention from staffs and management. Not sure what that smell was. Upon entering the rear door, both me and my partner noticed it almost immediately. I just thought it smelled bad but my partner said he’s having nausea from that smell. He had to get out to have some fresh air before returning to get my drink. Could it be the air curtain?? Or something close to the rear door? Not sure what was it, but I do recommend holding your breath a bit if you are going in from...
